    Talking PRS-40 Show n' tell

    Hi

    #67 checking in from Helsinki.

What a fantastic watch this is, in terms if style and looks.

Few questions some folk have asked and here are a few answer:

Does it hit the markers - Yes mine does, its at 00:45 right now
I have a sub 7" wrist will it wear ok - Yes my wrist is sub 7" and it fits nice and snug due to the end pieces and the NATO strap
Is this a keeper - Mine will be :-)

    Thanks
    deano

    Very nice indeed.
    Just waiting for mine :)

Will post this here too. Loving it so far.
Very comfy on my 6.75ish wrist and the new style NATO is fantastic

  4. #4
I've put mine on a slightly thinner NATO and its even better for my small wrist.

Could an auto be made with a change of some of the case dimensions? Would love to see it in the future.

Looks the perfect watch for people who like to wear their watches right on the wrist, rather than behind the 'bone swelling' (I'm sure it has a technical name!) as the crown doesn't dig into your hand!

Very bold and interesting design - Great work Eddie and Giovanni Moro (the designer!).

Received my PRS-40 today, and I love it.

Great size and fit for my 7.5 inch wrist.

Also, the NATO strap that the watch comes with is really superb quality and suits the watch perfectly I think.

Here is some pics with my Tuna for a size comparison.

I just love this one! Many thanks Eddie!

You have caught the colour of the watch perfectly.
Since wearing mine this afternoon, I keep wondering where's my crown! :) then I realise.

Nice photos, guys. Quite a unique watch, and I think it really stands out on the NATO.

Absolutely love the dial but I still find the case a bit "challenging", which is the only thing stopping me ordering. Is anyone else struggling with it?

Yes, that's the appeal for me. The NATO going through the slot in the case and the bead-blasted finish make it look like a piece of camping equipment, or climbing equipment. It's just so uncompromisingly tool-ish and practical looking. I will be strapping one on on Christmas Day, all being well.

    And I have :)

I love the design even more up close than in the photos, it's comfortable to wear and looks great on the wrist.

I have to say though I would like it a lot more if the second hand hit the markers on the way round. On a watch costing less than Ģ200 though it's reasonable that it doesn't so I have no complaint, and apart from that niggle it feels like a very well made watch. Will see if a watchmaker can sort it out and if not, will have the second hand removed - after which it will still be worth whatever I end up having paid, for sure.

Funnily enough, I thought with this being my first quartz it would have bothered me, but I've come to accept it.

    Perhaps I should retract that.

I have a few quartz watches with second hands, and I've had a look through some of them this morning - an Omega '007' Seamaster and a Tag, but also three Seikos, a Wenger, two Casios, a Swatch and two Pulsars, Of these only one - one of the Casios, bought for about Ģ25 as a holiday watch - fails to hit the markers spot on. I will accept that the Swatch (Ģ32 from Liverpool St Station on an impulse) is probably a lucky coincidence.

None save the Omega or the Tag would have cost Ģ200 new, and some of them much less. It is something, I must conclude, that you should expect a manufacturer to get right for a watch costing more than Ģ50 or so.

Did you ever read this? http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...kers-on-quartz

There are many reasons why the seconds hand doesn't always hit the markers and few, if any at all, are within the control of the person who actually puts the watch together.

When I first saw the pics my instinct was that it would look great on mesh but no way to attach ... I get very frustrated with Nato straps, with quite a big wrist, mostly I find that there's not enough to turn down (just a cm or so coming out of the top rung), so I'm left with an awkward bit flapping around.

I'm afraid the only straps that will work with the 40 is a Nato or a pull through RAF style.
You could try either canvas, leather or rubber though.

    I was thinking about this.

If you put some sort of pin though the hole in the strap for the spring bars then they would hold the strap in place once fastened around your wrist.

It's not perfect but would allow a two piece strap to be used.

And hi Giovanni, that's a great watch you've designed there! Can you design a bracelet to fit to it now please?

I do remember Breitling I think, had a similar design with loose straps that located in to the recess of the watch, I'm sure it was a military Colt?

The screws on the Aviator unscrew completely, just needs to be checked if there is enough room for the "fixed springbar" to fit when the screws are refastened.

Would be easy to get a similar design custom strap made I would imagine, just need to know what size to allow for the fixed lugs.

You could weld a 22mm mesh strap ends together and then slide it in :D

next one we can do an integrated SS bracelet maybe, ask Eddie :)

I have borrowed Dave+63 photo (hope that is OK) and added an inner ring... I always thought it might add a nice twist to the dial and tie up the markers. I'd love to try one of these on to see how the fit and feel comes across on my wrist.

Still looks great but one of the things I like about it most is the large black area on the dial. The circle makes that area smaller.

What I would like to see is maybe a change to the double dots at 12 o'clock. Maybe a triangle instead, or sonething else just to see how it would look.
