    Torn between 2 watches

Just over in Belgium visiting family and I thought I would bring my old Baume et Mercier Capeland chronograph over to see if a PX is possible. B&Ms seem to hold a little better residual value over here than in the UK. Was offered around £250 in England and €700 over here. I've found a Pam359 and a JLC 240.8.15, I think the JLC feels more special for sure but the Pam looks great on. Just trying to negotiate a slightly better deal at the mo!

Wow - they couldn't be much different could they?

Is there a particular hole you're looking to fill? Do you have anything in the collection similar to either?

haha yeah very different. Im my head I need 3 more watches, a JLC, a Pan and a Patek. I'll get them eventually, I'm just not sure in which order. The JLC is perfect, the size, the design and the model. I was looking at the grande taille, but the 8 day just feels more special and a little more wow, especially with the reverse glass back. Totally pointless, but totally brilliant at the same time. I love the Pan but I think my preferred choice is actually a black seal radiomir. And as I only want to own 1 watch per brand I think I should hold out and wait to get one of those. I think the radiomir just sits a little better on my wrist that the luminor. BUT the only thing that slightly puts me off is I already own 2 other 'black' case watches, the black seal would be the 3rd.
Nothing else similar in the collection though:
    Omega seamaster aquaterra
    Tag Carrera chrono tachymetre
Tag aquaracer PVD on a rubber strap
    Bremont U2 DLC
    Baume et Mercier capeland chrono
Montblanc 18ct rose gold nicolas rieussec home time

JLC suits you much better ....it's really elegant and timeless. Sorry I can't say the same for the PAM

Glad you've still got that one mate, it's very special!

I think that is an unusually nice Luminor actually but my heart is always with JLC and the Reverso 8 Days was the one I went for too. No regrets, it's my perfect Reverso and a quintessential JLC.

If that isn't the >exact< PAM you want, then give it a miss or you'll just flip it and lose a few quid for nothing.

I much prefer the Panerai myself, though the JLC does look very interesting indeed.

Thanks for the replies guys! My heart and head is definitely saying JLC now. Now it's just a case of getting it for the right price. Whether or not I by this one over in Belgium, I know this is the model I want now.

Surely the flip case to display that gorgeous movement on the back seals the deal for you? :P

Both lovely, though with so many options on Panerai if that isn't the perfect one for you I'd wait until you find the right one, and go for the JLC now.

I don't want to offend you but I feel the PAM looks too large, and the JLC not right at all in my opinion. I have a similar sized wrist by the looks of it and I struggle the same.

Love the JLC, lukewarm about the Panerai.

I'm not a massive fan of either, but it'd be the Panerai for me, I'll happily admit I don't get the Reversos at all.

And (Dare I say it?) that one looks MUCH better with the back showing.

The cut away 4, the intrusive date windows (with an odd font for the date) and the weird hand in the top left corner all make the dial look a complete dog's dinner imo...

I like the PAM best as it's round (I prefer round watches) but if I'm honest the JLC looks better on your wrist.

Nothing lies like a picture, as they say but TBH they both look a little large on you. The lugs on the Pam look they are overhanging your wrists which, for me, would be a no no.

I wouldn't buy either personally, but on the 2, it would be the Panerai

Go with the JLC, you won't regret it. In have the grande date and love it. That said, it is not an everyday wearer. Although it has its origins as a sports watch for polo playing, it is more of a dress watch.

couldn't be more different but i would take the JLC everyday of the week. For me it is so much more timeless. I can't help but think PAM's will go out of favour as watch trends revert back to normal sizes.

Both nice watches though and im sure you'll be happy with either

I agree, the JLC is great as a formal watch but the PAM is an all rounder imo

Exactly my thoughts... I've tried a Reverso many times, but never felt it was right for me (now).

I would choose PAM. The Reverso is too small for my taste.
