Thread: Speedbird kink in second hands?

    Speedbird kink in second hands?

Really hard to capture, doesn't seem to be any convex in crystal but on certain angles looks like there is a bit if a kink in the 2nd hand and to a lesser extent the hour hand. Is this normal?

It threw me the first time I saw it but it's defo the effect of the crystal - I've had 5 of 'em and they're all like that.

Strange, I can see the the crystal is slightly domed on mine, but whatever angle I look at with my eyes, the hands seem straight. Have tried to photograph it to see if it is more obvious but they still seem straight to me. Maybe it is an optical effect with your camera lens? Or maybe earlier models had a more domed crystal or curved hands?

Mine is exactly the same, no curve visible.

It has to be the degree of dome in the crystal as I don't recall any of mine looking as straight as that. I don't personally think it matters as they both look amazing.

    Prefer the straight version myself.

checked mine last night and no visible curvature of the hands, maybe the different batches are fitted with slightly different domes?
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

It had to be the dome of the crystal, as the end of the hour hand is bending away as well….

My Mk XII does the same thing; similarly domed crystal I guess.

OK I'm slightly worried now because my PRS-22 GMT minute AND second hands are definitely bent. Noticed this the other day and looked it up on forums. Apparently it's a common thing with lots of watches and even IWC Pilots. Makes the points of the hands closer to the dial and make it easier to read.

I guess Eddie can let us know.
