    Long time lurker

    Hi

I just wanted to introduce myself, I have been a long time lurker and been reading the forums for over a year I would say. Well today I finally got to courage to register myself and put myself out there. I have always loved a good watch and had numerous over the years, mainly Asian of the quartz varieties. In the mid to late nineties I bought my first expensive (or at least to me) Citizen Eco, and loved the fact they did not need a battery change. Well I have had two that have been massive work horses for me. The first is somewhere at the bottom of Sydney Harbour due to a water skiing accident. So off I went and bought another which is still going strong 14 years on. In the last 3-4 years I decided I wanted something Swiss, so was on the look out for an automatic as I do not like the £ charges to change batteries. this was about the time the prices rocketed (sod's law) and the omegas I love have just been out of reach for my small budget.

I have been looking for a few years at ebay for some nice vintages but never pulled the trigger due to not knowing enough about watches and if I would get a pup. So never been brave enough to pull the trigger.

Currently I have a Quondam (italian diver) that has an ETA in it which is my daily beater that I love, Really solid feel to it. I also have a Obris Morgan Dietfried, which is a GMT, I like the design but not quite doing it for me...
My wife bought be a citizen bullhead, for a wedding present with I really like the design but is a little small for my large wrists, but this is a keeper and never being sold.

the Omega though it the one that still looks like the one that will get away....

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your quest for an Omega!

One thing though, I hate to break the news to you, but the maintenance costs of a mechanical watch exceed those of a quartz watch by a considerable margin.

    Cheers,
    Antti

Welcome aboard, a wealth of information to be found here. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Have you considered a CWC Royal Navy diver? An awful lot of the old Omega SM300 look to it, for a fraction of the Omega price.

Welcome, worth having a look at our hosts offerings. I got one for my eldest, well made and very good value.
