Happen to have this in my ebay watched items along with another UG which has a white dial and black subdials. Not sure whether I will bid but both are very beautiful.

It's nice enough but I'm sticking with my Val. 72 Autavias.

I appreciate the Newman for what it is but the UN is a lot nicer in my eyes.

Lovely UN, I'd love to have that and restore it lovingly.

Great decorated Valjoux 72 as well.

Makes me regret selling my Enicar Sherpagraph.........

    Daddel.

Thanks for that and now going to search Val 72 Autavias . OP that's a cracking watch, will you be bidding ? Unfortunately I wont as funds are needed elsewhere.

Still think the UN's prettier, sorry! The clean dial and elegant line just screams understated classic. Having the extra £40k in my bin would probably cloud my judgement though!

Seriously, not many of us could ever have enough money to throw around to buy a 60's Daytona, so the Val 72's chrono's produced in the 60's like the UN, the UG's, especially the Space Compax, Autavia's etc provide a more sensible alternative for basically the same watch that would cost as much as a small hoose oop norf.

My concern with paying that for the UN is that the earlier days of the marque are not terribly well documented and there's a cottage industry in various Latin American countries manufacturing frankens. The area where I have more interest (though sadly not the funds) is Universal Geneve but at least there's the Sala book and an increasingly active specialist forum.
