    Vintage Rolex 36mm models

Hi all. I'm trying to investigate vintage Rolex no-date 36mm dia models. Anyone know the reference numbers? Ta in advance!

Blimey. Without Googling, I can only think of the Explorer 1016 and the Daytona (various, expensive).

All the various Precisions. Would be quite a job I reckon to compile a full list of references.

    They're pretty much all 34mm, aren't they?

Yep, Tony's right, precisions are mostly 34mm. The 1016 Explorer and Datejusts are 36mm. Daytonas are more like 38mm. Lug widths are 19mm on the 34mm watches (and daytonas) and 20mm on the 1016s and Datejusts.

    Best wishes,
    Martyn.

Sorry, I should have writted "all the 36mm variations of the Precisions". I know the majority are 34mm, but there are plenty of 36mm models out there. A quick Google turns up refs 5504, 8952, 9083, 6024, 6424, 6426, 9522, 4371 all listed as 36mm.

I though there'd be a detailed, documented reference list/database somewhere online cataloging Rolexes case reference history, but I can't find one.

Excellent work; thanks chaps! Pity there's no database about these cases.

1018 is the ref for the 36mm non-date perpetual chronometer, a relativity unusual one from the late 60s. Some of them end up getting converted into explorers (1016) as the dial fits, but the case is actually flatter.

The extra couple of mm over the usual 34mm non-dates makes quite a difference.

Pretty comprehensive list of Rolex Precision models at http://www.interwatches.com/rolex-history
Unfortunately it doesn't feature case sizes but does differentiate between men and women's models.

    Wink

    From that link it says:

Men's Oyster Perpetual No Date Plastic Crystal

The characteristics for this model are: the case measures 36 x 12.3mm

    5500, 5501, 5504, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1006, 1007, 1008, 1018 and 1038

No sizes for the Geneve models though.
