To me , diver doesn't just indicate a certain amount of wr but a 60 min timing bezel

    I'm guessing the TSAR?

I'm still quite intrigued with the Eco drive though.. Apparently those issued with them swear by them...

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to reasonably priced divers watches.

Can you name them all in the pic?

I can spot a seiko and two marathons.. but the one in the middle with the rubber strap with large gaps in looks cool...

From the top, and left to right:
Sinn U1 (they are bullet proof)
Vintage Zodiac red dot, (identical to Heuer with full lume tritium dial and similar case to CWC diver)
Vintage Seiko 6309 (with mas 62 style dial and hands).
The blue one is a Helson Sharkmaster 600. (homage to the Ploprof). Great watch for the money and the lume is nuclear.
    Marathon JSAR,
    Marathon MSAR,
    CWC,
Seiko 007 (worth a look as it the best value for money diver watch out there IMHO).

All are auto bar the zodiac and JSAR

Some of the boutique brands (e.g. our hosts brands and Helson) offer great watches for not a lot of money and are well worth a look. A PRS 18A and PRS 82 are on my target list.

Let us know what you choose

A note of caution about the Marathon SAR quartz diver, if you think you might like it try very hard to see one in person, a lot of people recommending them here so it shouldn't be impossible. I had one, it was well built but one of the most underwhelming watches I ever owned, quite frankly I hated the damned thing.

I gave it to a good friend in the US Army after an exchange programme, he liked it and wears it. It is one of the few watches I ever gave up that I will not miss.

It's a personal taste thing like Marmite but it is not all that obvious from images you might see.

If you cannot find one Victrinox make a very similar watch with the same case and bezel.

    Angry Why Oh Why!

There you've done it. Now I want a tritium dialled watch green & blue
Why Oh Why are the these not available in 38 to 40 mm? With my 6.5 wrist I don't think I can carry off 42 or 44 mm watches.
All the designs I like are 42 or 44 mm

Don't fixate on diameter, it's more the lug-lug measurement and design profile that is a problem for smaller wrists, if you're more round than wide and thin.

Post #20 got the right answer. What's the point of having a watch like an SD and not wearing it? After the first itty bitty mark you wont notice the rest. My CWC is as almost pristine, to my eye..........

I appreciate that - someone else has said its very love it or hate it.. so i will check it out.

On the other hand.. I have today seem my mates Issued Citizen Eco - and i was quite impressed at how tough, and heavyish it was for its small cost. and the lume is a blueish green, which shines just as bright, and just as long as my best lumed Tag Heuer Aqauracer!

that watch is creeping up the want list.. fast!

I agree with that - what type of watch are you thinking? Luminox i think may seem cheap to most - but the 3003 blue navy seal watch ive had for 5 years has never faulted, never needed a battery or anything. and i have given it hell.. and not a single scratch to the mineral glass. The case is reinforced carbon fibre so takes a beating too...

I am so leaning towards the 3081 Blackout - this watch is now bear grylls go to watch, and have seen him punish it on his adventures on tv recently.

dont worry about size - just try one on and if it fits all good!

my wrists are 6 3/4" and 42mm fit fine..

My Tag Aquaracer is 38mm and feels small when worn now.

let me know if you pull the trigger and buy a Tritium blue/green watch, and tell me which you settled on!

    thanks,
    Simon.

is there any MODS that can fast track my sales corner approval??

I genuinely am a watch nut, and want to see what used deals are for sale on here before buying my next new watch?

my previous daily wear has been my luminox 3003 blue navy seal - and thats been a true legend of a watch.

Go to wornandwound.com , there you see the review.
If you order now, they will go for 530€ which I know is above your budget but I think this is a quite unique watch for this price

I wear mine everywhere for everything. It took a hard dive with me this week off the bike but luckily escaped unscathed. Wrecked my gloves though!

I have to admit - I have bashed it a couple of times whilst drunk.. and it remains unscathed...

but its my favourite watch, and saved long and hard for it... dont want to wreck it as want to make it a vintage Rolex to hand to my new born daughter on her 21st birthday.

Now that I like, nice review too. But why o why is it 45mm, and there's me thinking the big trend is disappearing. Clearly not. I like 40mm, I love the look of the Pelagos too it features with but this is too big. Maybe I'll check it out next time im at the AD.

    Sorry to butt in....carry on...

    I have shortlisted the following
    Nite MX10 39
    Traser Classique translucent silver 39 GTLS only on 12 3 6 9
    Traser P7292 Pulse 40
    Traser Classic Black 40
Luminox is too big at 44. The smaller ones also have a disproportionately smaller dial. To be honest I'll wait & have a look in detail before pulling the trigger. The only 42 mm watch I have is the Seiko orange monster, the lugs on which are curved which does make it appear smaller. The lugs on the larger Luminox, Traser and Nite are all straight & I don't think I can carry them off. Whichever I choose will have a green dial (the brightest) will look at blue & orange later

Why don't you look at the luminox a.7051 that's a 38mm and suits well to smaller wrists that can't suit 44mm + watches.

In fact luminox marketed this as people with smaller wrists asked for it..

I would say I am flat rather than round ( my wrist not my waist) To be fair As I mentioned a 42 mm seiko orange monster seems fine. Wish I could try one before buying.

Are any of these classed as a diver, as the initial post requested?

If it were me OP I'd wear either your Sub or SD. I wear my new Sub everyday and I'm no desk diver. It's already a few scratches and its still a baby, its only 5 months old. Its what they're made for. No point it sat in a drawer staying pristine for the next person to enjoy. It'll take anything you throw at it.
So go on put your Sub on and enjoy it, it's the most versitile watch that'll put a smile on your face everyday

I kind of rotate between my Tag Aquaracer (i love this watch, its so bomb proof and looks great.) subtle yet expensive-ish, Sub, Panerai and SD.

if I know I am doing some really rough work, gardening etc, i use either my luminox 3003 or my gshock.

if anyone was to ask me what my favourite what was that I have - it would be my SD without a doubt.. but in close second, just for wearability and comfort and just all round bomproofness ( i know thats not a word) it would be my Tag Aqauracer.

looking at where you are - your a little to far away from me, otherwise you could have tried my black monster on. it does compliment a small wrist well due to the lugs.

one thing is though its case is polished.. not matt.. but it has that many contours and angles it looks matt unless you inspect it, meaning its great as scratches and scuffs dont show.

Its perfect for large and small wrists and the blue dial looks great whilst wearing.

    Always get compliments on it.

A mate of mine has had this next watch for over 5 years.

it cost him £30 when new, and its only ever needed a new strap which he swapped for a zulu..

please let me know your thoughts as a cheap ass daily beater!

Ok I'll probably get shouted down for this but here goes, Seiko 7548-7000.

You've got some great watches listed here, all tough enough really for your uses, but what will they look like in 20-25 years? Now check out those Seiko's, and how many are still kicking around, put a sapphire crystal in it, maybe a relume, and it will still be below your budget, now that's a tough watch.

    yep.

I anticipate my Seiko monster being a cool vintage in 20 years time - and hopefully still working too.

i would love to gain access to this bloody Sales Corner as i'm sure i will find my next watch there.

I cant find any cool Seiko online, as they arent available new anymore.

    Used is the way forward.

Be careful of wishing time would move faster, strange things have been known to happen for those who did!
When you finally achieve the level of enlightenment necessary to pass through the gates of SC, try and contain your disappointment.

Just watch you don't trip over the shoes, jackets, ties, socks, fish tank, coffee machine, iPhones, electric toothbrush, insurance payout vouchers, as you cross the threshold.....that's all I'm saying.
Otherwise, it's a veritable treasure trove!

    LMFAO..

being a "Watch" forum.. should the SC not be "Watches only"?

or at least have a separate "watches" and "Other shit" sales sections?

Great idea! Why hasn't anyone else though of that? Maybe you should pm the boss and suggest it to him directly
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
