The most weird combination of food that works. Whats yours ?

Went to Prezzo last night.Amazing food and for starters I had cold steak with beetroot and rocket. I laughed at it at first but then thought give it a go..It was delicious .

Anyone else tried something they considered wouldn't work but got a big surprise ?

Acts as a flavour enhancer for the meat.

I used to rip the pizz out of mate for years because his favourite snack was a pork pie sandwich, that was until I tried it. Don't know why it works but it does...especially with beetroot.

i once had balsamicc vinegar icce cream with a tarte tatin which was amazing.

if i am making quorn mince bolognese or meat balls, a bit of full fat coke in the tomato sauce is a nice touch.

Packet of ready salted Hula Hoops in a bowl of tomato soup. Most potato based crisps work, but Hula Hoops are the best.

Balsamic vinegar on icecream is very nice as long as its good quality balsamic where the main ingredient is grape must, it doesn't taste of vinegar. Don't try it with the cheap fake dyed stuff you get for a few quid in the supermarket.

I had bone marrow ice cream at a fancy restaurant last week. It was quite like normal ice cream, except that it had a kind of slight meaty flavour. It came with some berries and hazelnut. Quite interesting.

This isn't particularly weird, but not a common offering - curry with pasta. Sounds daft, but works a treat.

Bread with jam and cheese or honey and cheese. I like it but others think it's weird.

I know that's nice, but try cooking the ham in strong cider, after 8 hours in the slow cooker it's very nice.

Been reading these to a pal at work and he suggests

Cottage cheese and jam, on an oat cake, or a cheese and chilli jam sandwich.

+1 for bacon and banana, especially on pancakes with maple syrup. Fry sliced banana briefly in the bacon fat for maximum effect.

Black pepper ice cream on strawberries works well too.

Ooh close... try brinjal pickle, it's aubergine baced spicy pickle (you'll only find it in Asian supermarkets)

I had a cheese and Brinjal pickle (with just the tiniest bit of Mayo) toasted sandwich yesterday... Heaven!

That makes me feel better. My family think I'm weird for liking toast with butter and Bovril, sometimes topped with peanut butter! Lovely.
