Why is it a closed group?

Only so you have to ask to join and be approved. It reduces the chance of the fake sunglasses and watch sellers that plague Facebook groups.

Neither of my brand pages are closed and I haven't experienced any spam.

It's inevitable Eddie, most groups I'm a member of are closed for this reason..
    Cheers..

There's nothing to stop somebody joining the group and then spamming; despite all the checks on this forum, some still get through.

It's true but it means I can look up each profile first and add them when I know I have time to keep an eye on what is posted. Otherwise people just show up and it can be a while before I notice what they are posting.

I get the same problem with the local car club group I started. The number of hot chicks I've had to decline is unbelievable!
