    Seiko SARB035 Dress watch

I saw one of these in Salisbury and it is beautiful. Looks and feels really well made with a touch of class to the design. Just £149 which seemed good.

Trebbucks? The one on Bridge Street opposite the bank. They have a good range of pre owned watches as well.

I'm pretty sure it was, hope so my wife said I can buy one.

There only a small shop and they just had one in the window. Don't tell me I've started a race to get it

Well, one hopes that they have more than one in stock.

I'm thinking that this price is too good to be true but we'll see.

Once Ernest Jones in Bournemouth were selling hand wound Dunhill watches, beautiful Art Deco style things for £99.99. I brought one for myself and one for my wife, next time I went in the shop assistant told me it had been a mistake and they were supposed to have been far more expensive. One of my very few lucky new watch purchases.

Sure but you won't win. Either that or you would win and I wouldn't - my luck isn't normally that good, sometimes but not often

Good luck with the Sarb, been on the lookout myself and unwilling to purchase from overseas

Working around Poole tomorrow but could possibly make it to Salisbury before 5 :)

That's about half what they cost in Japan, buy a truckload of them and flog them in Tokyo for a nice little earner. I think some poor shop assistant is going to be having his wages docked.

Thought the SARB was a JDM model and not for sale in the UK?

£150 is a great price though, you should have picked one up as soon as you saw it.

Ok, I've just phoned Tribbecks and spoken to the very nice lady there. They do not have the SARB035 in stock (boohoo!) but they do have a very similar looking watch, the SRP527. SRP527 is the international market reference for the SARY055 from the Presage line!

The SRP527/SARY055 is a white dial men's dress watch with sapphire, day, date, 100m WR, and a 4R36 movement rather than the SARB035's 6R15 movement. I did not confirm the price on the phone but if it's available at £149 then it's still a bargain price in my opinion. Creation's price for the SARY055 is £245 and Pleasance & Harper have the SRP527 at £279.

    Seiko UK's page for the SRP527: http://www.seiko.co.uk/collections/men/other/srp527j1

Yeoman's blog on the SARY055 (also mentioning the SRP527): http://yeomanseiko.com/2014/09/13/se...esage-sary055/

    ** edit **
I decided to buy the SRP527 from Tribbecks if I could get it at £149 and so I called back. Sadly the nice lady confirmed that the price was £279.

No worries. It was fun even if it didn't work out. :-)

It certainly wasn't £279 when the lad in the shop was putting it in the window, should have brought it there and then.

Watch collecting seems to be full of opportunities lost. ;-)

Personally I prefer the sarb033, but that was an unbelievable price for this watch!

If not we'd all be wealthy. Remember just ten years ago Seiko and Citizen were selling diver watches in Argos for around £30? The Omega Dynamics found in a warehouse in Switzerland being sold in IWW for £295? Or further back the MOD auctions where Rolex Submariners were sold by the tray of 12 and you could get the whole lot for under £1000? I find its a hobby full of fleeting opportunities. Sadly my finances are often out of sync with those opportunities.

    Regards James
