Rolex and Tudor on the dial is not a good sign. That combined with a California dials makes the chance that it is a fake 99,9%. See also:http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=94108
Good friend of mine called me yesterday to ask for advice on watch he's thinking of buying, am currently awaiting pictures, but from the description over the phone '1970's - Rolex and Tudor on the black dial, with Roman numerals at the top, Arabic at the bottom and 24hr markers on an inner circle', it sounds to me very much like a Tudor 'bubbleback' that's been sent off for a California redial?
Appreciate that it's a little vague without pictures (which I'll add when they arrive), but does anybody have any knowledge of these things? Also, I realise that the term 'bubbleback' is probably not an official Rolex name, but where did the name come from?

Guess I'll have to wait for the pictures, some initial research I did based on his description did yield some results that 70's Tudors did get sent off for 'California' redials and subsequently came back with Rolex & Tudor marked on the dial.
Really need to check the serial number and get a look at the pictures and seek some more in depth advice - don't want him dropping a chunk of cash on some worthless PoS.
A couple of pics, dial looks ropey to me but would appreciate any input?
Apologies I'm on iphone at the minute, will try to do better pics later.
My eyes, my eyes, my eeeeeyyyeeeeesssss

Lol, yes - fake or simply redialled, it is rather horrid isn't it , there's no accounting for taste though and my friend obviously was taken with it.
Wow....just wow
I would say Tudor case and probably correct movement, but horrific dial and wrong hands.
