    Speedmaster 2915 / 2998 - help with creating a modern replica

    Hi

Ok so I probably will never be able to afford / find an original 2915 or 2998 but I do like the look of them.

Having discovering Chye's very nice creation I am sourcing parts so I can create my own

    http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...ust-Completed!

So can you vintage speedy experts confirm some of the details of the parts required so I can get as close to the original look as possible.

Dial - Obviously No "Professional" on the dial, but was the raised logo "gold" or "silver" ?
Hands - Hour Minute - 2915 are the broadarrow hands 2998 are the dauphine hands - Ofrei seem to offer a good match for both.
Subdial hands - originally were these "white" or "silver" ? I have googled images of 2915 and 2988 and it isn't clear.
Sweep Second Hand - originally were these "white" or "silver" ?

    So my main issues

Q1) Dial - gold or silver raised logo ?
Q2) Sub-dial hands Sweep Second hand - white or silver ?

    Thanks
    Stuart

Logo in silver AFAIK, it is in silver on my pre pro 105.003 Ed White.

I Have just completed a similar thing with my 105.003.
Applied logo is silver to my eyes, I cooked this dial on gas mark 225 for around 15 mins to get the browning on the luminova. I painted the sub dial hands white and left the main chrono hand silver.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers Mick

    Very impressive Mick

    So looking at the picture left to right are they 1) 2998-x 2) 2998-x 3) 105.003 ?

These models all share the same straight lugged case then.
Are the first two originals ? yet more examples with white sweep, and subdials

Maybe a 105.003 is the ideal donor watch then... hmm

First two are fully original , 105.002, 2998-2 and 105.003 with newer service dial, hands, bezel and plexi.
If you can get a 105.003 that has a service dial that would be a good place to start, the modern hands do not fit as standard but need a little adjustment by making the holes bigger but only by a tiny amount, the modern bezel also needs reducing in size so it snaps into place.
    Thanks Mick

You could do the easy man's way and buy a 3594.50

It does not have straight lugs or creamy lume but it is a nice watch right off the shelf.
