    AP ROO Diver

After wanting one for years and after a few weeks of back and forth with Mark at Blowers, I finally got one of my dream watches....

I have a feeling this may be the watch that satisfies all my horological desires. I was concerned about size, but this seems to be supplied with a short length strap and, with the curved lugs, fits my 6.75" wrist perfectly. Everything from the fit and finish to the gorgeous dial to the super chunky and ultra comfortable strap is, for me, totally perfect.

I wish I'd bought one years ago. Let's see if my new Aquatimer gets a look in :)

Beautiful watch solid but elegant. I really like the nonchrono versions best. Glad it sits well on your wrist as i have the same size wrist. Great purchase. Enjoy

It's very nice but not magical I'm afraid.

    Congratulations Simon.
Mine is as close to a keeper as it gets for me at least.

Fantastic watches. Looks like the bezel is a little rubbed on this one but it's such a unique looking watch...

Congrats, OP., beautiful watch, and mine's a keeper.

I cant imagine how heavy it is with that bracelet. I'll bet it's about 170 grams even on rubber.

I've had mine for about a month and am about 90% in love with it...some days it does feel too big and I wonder if I should have bought the classical RO instead.

I'm also not sure about whether to buy the bracelet...am looking for one in London when I'm there next week. If anyone has a bracelet they are looking to move, please let me know.

But, as I say, 90% of the time I'm very pleased. No question on the design or finish...but they really should fit a display caseback. I'm sure that will announce a revised model in Jan at SIHH.

I think the new offshores released have the nice clear caseback but not sure about the divers.

Yes, the new ROOs do- but the steel diver hasn't been updated yet. Inevitable you'd think.

Love these watches, so classic and timeless. Definitely next on my hit list...if I can justify it!

I'm a big fan of AP and the brushed steel design so I have to congratulate you on a superb choice. :)

I do prefer the non chrono Roos as my preference changes and I suspect this model may be one I'll acquire in the near future.

    Congratulations

Very nice, Simon. The ROO (like the RO, actually) has been growing on me of late, and you've picked a very wearable beauty.

I'm still trying to figure out what the Genta 'Sports watch' is to me. The only one I've had was a ROO and I really enjoyed it; I sold it, sadly, because of the reputation the wearer is often given, I didn't like the modular chrono and I knew I wanted a Nautilus.

I'm craving an AP again though and am torn between the slimmer standard RO / RO chrono or this. I doubt there are bad choices, I suppose it's deciding what would be a foil to a Nautilus 5980 chrono. First world problems eh...

Absolutely stunning. I thought it'd be a bit large for 6.75 (my size!) though - any chance of some wrist shots?

    After a 960 mile drive

Managed to cool this one down, but then again AP Divers are sub zero.

    Aircon broken down?

Good point I will investigate an air conditioned boot, the BLNR & the 389 shared the journey up front.

Nice, but would look so much better on a tasteful AP hornback croc strap.

The horn back is nice I got one as part of the deal for the watch but the rubber is so wearable and comfortable for + 90 deg heat.

It is a real beauty, and it does wear really well, considering its heft. I tried one with a bracelet and IMO it didn't wear as well as the rubber.

I'm continuing to love this watch and every time I open the safe to put on something else, I think, "meh". Now I'm toying with the idea of selling everything else and buying the forged carbon one at Blowers thus reducing my collection to two pieces :)

    What a stunner: http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/c...a01_s17533.htm

Is it less than 2 years old ?

If so then register the watch with AP then send them an e-mail asking for the voucher for the 3rd year warranty sticker that entitles you to the 3rd years warranty and a free WR test.

The previous owner may have done this so check the paperwork for a letter with the sticker or check the warranty section of the service book.

You should take a look at the forged carbon first, I looked at one before and thought it felt cheap a bit like plastic. It's a very light watch though and you may like it. My pick of the diver range is the all ceramic, but they are boutique only pieces and very rare.

Thanks for the pointer. In reality, I think I'd get bored with two nearly identical watches. If I do decide to sell my Aquatimer, the funds would go towards your Hublot :)

Thanks to Fords for the heads up on warranty.

If you have an AP don't get a Hublot, fellow owners will have you exiled as a blasphemous outcast on other forums.

I have both a big bang and a roo, I never knew about the AP forum rules. Maybe I should consult you before my next purchase?

Have you got anymore of those faberge 'style' eggs for sale? that might increase my forum reputation.

  40. #40

    Cool

Another fine AP purchase here on TZ.

The Diver (prior and current Ceramic model) are just brilliant watches.

What's the going rate for a good example? And how much would a bracelet cost (as most look to be sold on the rubber)?

The diver is the most elegant but still big ROO IMHO. Great great choice
