I have the OVM but just been on their site looking at the Ocean Black and Ocean 44 😍
Hmmm😐
Really cant suss this taptalk out, you post one picture and you can barely tell if it's a Watch let alone a Steinhart, then the next one aint too bad!
Anyone else use taptalk?
Apologies if i use this thread as a "Matt's testing thread" :)
And surly i've not made 200 posts on this forum! 😧
A thread all to yourself! I'll help you out
I've just ordered an Ocean Vintage Red, can't wait
Unsure I'm waiting for conformation. They stated 10 working days "if" it's in stock! Fingers crossed eh! Need a daily wearer
Ha ha I looked at one of those too, thought it felt pretty good, even in comparison to my SMP.
I've never seen a Steiny in the flesh, I'm going on the reviews. I had a CW60 but moved it on. People seem to rate the Steinharts well so I'm looking forward to getting it.
Be surprised if you are disappointed, those CW's seem to have a bit of a cult following too!

Well my OVM is my posh friday night Watch 😃 but i'm still quite new to this Watch habit so no doubt a more expensive one wont be to far away! 😜
Love the OVM
I've been thinking of getting a Steinhart Ocean 1 Green but looking at the pics about is making me re-think! Nice one .
How log do they take to arrive ? (Assuming it is new)
TIA
I have just ordered a Le Mans GT automatic, (well someone has to), and they quoted me 8 - 12 days for delivery if it was in stock, so hopefully I will get it next week.
This is part of the E-Mail I received.
we received your payment.
Thank you very much.
Your order will be dispatched within 8 - 12 working days after receipt of your payment, provided the ordered items are in stock.
You will receive a tracking number upon shipment of your order.

Im the other way, Ive enjoyed my Aviation GMT but im going to move it on. They seem to be unable to make them at the moment so I think this may be the right time. Just need to find the right PRS - 20 first...
I got an Ocean One as a beater but in reality it goes in rotation with my "better" brands and holds it's own.
The bracelet is superb but I wear it manly on GGB or NATO as I sit at a desk most days and keyboard use / bracelets don't work for me.
Johnny.
I took delivery of an Ocean 44 about three weeks ago, and I'm very, very impressed. Like Johnny I'm wearing it in rotation with my higher-end watches (my two Breitlings among others) and it definitely doesn't feel like a poor relation. Of course, the fact that it bears a fairly uncanny resemblance to the DSSD doesn't exactly hurt :)
The quality is excellent and although it takes a little getting used to I do like the novelty of the sapphire bezel.
This is my second Steinhart as you can see from my signature, and I continue to think that they offer a lot of quality at their price point...
Simon
There's an ocean 1 vintage just come up on SC. I'm quite tempted by it myself.
Meanwhile I'm wearing the Steinhart that wasn't!
Nice pics there lads, thanks for sharing! 👍
The Aramar looks great, what a winner! Anyone else who finds the Aramar logo way more appealing than Steinhart's? That has always been the main letdown for me with that brand. Anyway, all nice watches.

... especially if tastefully modded, like I did with mine. :)
But really OT, sorry!
No? You got an interesting tase, watkins. :)
Maybe it is the bezel insert you dislike, the original one is out of plastic (has a cheap
feel to it) and has no lume dot! Most likely I will use a glass insert later to upgrade the
watch's appearance. Here it is with Seiko Pepsi insert (and domed acrylic crystal installed).
All inserts have to be modified as otherwise they wouldnt fit:
Now really enough off topic from my part!
Sorry again OP!

The OVM is particularly popular with people who don't research prices online. One just sold on eBay for £315, when Steinhart are selling them brand new for £280. You could have a nice little business buying them new and selling them off straight away for a 10% profit. Never mind about holding value, these things are better than a savings account!
Got my second steinhart on monday. Ocean 44 GMT. I have been waiting a long time for them to be available. Gnomonwatch had a few in suddenly. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411626924.662618.jpg
I sold my OVM on the bay after owning it for 6 months. I sold it to make way for another watch and do miss it. I sold it for a modest profit but once you take into account selling fees, I broke even. Still a very good result and you are right about the buyers. Why would you pay a premium for a second hand watch which can be bought new for less. Mad.
when buying from steinhartwatches.de, how much is the postage to the UK?
do we pay the inc 19% VAT price or excl?
Shipping is typically €15 plus VAT. You need to include VAT if you're in the UK and buying from Steinhart.de
I've owned both Steinhart and the Longines: they were very similar in quality. Apart from pricing, I found little or nothing between them. Both make great watches, but I'd choose Steinhart from now on.

Another Steinhart fan - I took delivery of a Steinhart Nav B premium with sandwich dial and decorated unitas movement - no fancy boxes like some of their limited edition fliegers just amazing quality - I really don't know how they do it. When I look at a Steinhart, i often wonder what I am really getting with other brands. I not as if Steinharts wear badly or their value drops like a stone.
This is my only Steinhart :
Not 100% sure how I feel about it.
It tends to be my "lazy day" watch, when I'm not doing much - The strap's REALLY comfy.
Definitely NOT a Rolex-homage though
M.
Steinhart is certainly a brand that challenges what you're really getting in return for more money. Though Steinhart isn't alone. My Orient Star is actually better quality than many more expensive watches I've seen or owned.
What's also interesting is how well Steinhart watches are holding their value: used prices on eBay are often quite close to new prices.
I wonder how long Steinhart can keep its prices down, before they inexorably rise.
