I know the 30% commission or thereabouts means not a lot of bargains but worth a look, and Dr Hofman is
always worth a laugh or 2. A varied lot today, Patek and Rolex tomorrow. I might have a bid on
one item tomorrow.....not telling which one, just watching today I think.
I can't access Chrono24 since the most recent iPad app update. It just crashes immediately every time. Anyone else experiencing problems?
Couple of Paul Newman Daytona's coming up.....in 1 minute!
They take so long to sell a watch, it feels so drawn out
I was keeping my eye out on the explorer, went for 8500 euros, one went at Bonhams for 8k with all premiums, seems they're coming down in price
have an account with the German auction site and bid on two and got one last night
I FEEL LIKE I'M DIAGONALLY PARKED IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE
... the white gold ALS Zeitwerk was quite a steal, even when you factor in the commission (23,8%), transport, insurance etc. For lower value models this auction format does not work well, due to the high additional cost and the too large bid increments. But for really expensive pieces there might be good deals available, particularly as only few bidders with very steep pockets seem to participate.
Cheers,
Christian
Yes - I did not bid but have gathered some more valuable experience...as a rule of thumb I just add
30% to the price then convert to sterling.....some bargains....not many IMHO.
€65k and €50k if memory serves.......
