Everyone has one. We call it a grail. Mine is a W10 issued Rolex 5517.
And it's covet by the way. The other is a bit spy-ish
Only watch I've ever had dreams about. I bet everyone else hates it too. I'm not fussy on the exact model. Any Breguet half hunter tourbillon will do.

I would love something Calatrava-ry, but could never justify buying one.
Any of the nasa flight flown speedmasters not fussy who has had it before as long they took it to space !
Realistically I'll never have a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, but it's a lovely watch to my eye.
Could I afford one if I REALLY wanted one? Probably, so I guess I don't covet any watches I'll be unlikely to ever afford, no

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
I am sure there are numerous but a Daytona 6265/6263 would be nice.
Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ultra-fine 1955
Too much to spend on a watch that wouldn't be worn much
Calatrava. I don't think I would ever be able to justify it though.
Something George Daniels made. I think that'd be pretty special.
Something by De Bethune would be nice.
RM011
Unlikely to afford, and even if I could afford it one day, it would be near impossible to find for sale
A Lange & Sohne 31
Always wanted a nice, minty 1953 Omega Thin Arrow. ISTR you could pick these up for peanuts in the 70s/80s.
Nah, not really. This is a path that I am quite happy to aimlessly wander along, with contented stops along the way. I've spent enough for the timebeing and now it's time to enjoy what I have.
MB&F Legacy Machine No1 - £64,500 i think it was.
I was quite happy just to try one on.

You have asked that question in the wrong place!!
Nah, not really. There's a couple I can't justify buying right now, but I'm young .
Although as times goes by I realize more and more that the thrill of the seek part of my collecting, especially in the niche of watches I've painstakingly collected over time, has become more and more the best part for me.
I also don't believe in any direct relationship between price and pleasure derived lets say. The favorite in my collection right now is also the 2nd cheapest of my mechanicals...don't have much quartz left anyway.
Nope. I have wanted a 1000M Seamaster for ages and now have one. I'd like a 321 Speedy but reckon I can still afford to buy or trade my way into one. I'd also like the first Autavia with three sub dials but I have two later Autavias like that so it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe one day I'll be lucky.
"A man of little significance"
I'm boring. A white dial Daytona.
Lots and lots.
Here's one.
JLC Minute Repeater Hunter Pocket Watch
Best wishes,

Paul Newman's Daytona
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
Friedrich Nietzsche
Any of McGonigle's watches.
Haha great question and how long have you got. I, like many others, have loads on my unlikely wish list but I would like to start with a Laurent Ferrier or an F.P Journe if I could. Followed by lashings of vintage Rolex, some Patek and a few nice GS
De Bethune or an MDT....
It is possible to achieve one's grail.
I'd lusted after a PP since childhood, I managed to buy this, by fair means or foul, in 2006 aged 66.
I sold it five years later, when still in a condition to be worth more than I paid for it new, it's a 5127R BTW.
I have no more grails, there is only one grail is a WIS lifetime IMVHO.

Lange Zeitwerk, sublime.
I'd really like this Panerai Radiomir 197
45mm 18ct Rose Gold case with exhibition case back. Black 'sandwich' dial with hobnail (waffle) guilloche; Luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers; Sapphire crystal back case
Op XIV Eight-Day Manual Wind Movement Based On A Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber a series of 300 pieces from 2004-2006, 33 jewels, 28,800 alternations/hour seconds at 9, balance spring adjusted by micrometer screw "swan-neck" regulator. Double main-spring barrel.
But brand spanking new. Very hard to find NOS.
oh hang on ?
Go on... Treat yourself.

For me it would be the Jaeger LeCoultre Chronograph retrograde:
Patek Philippe 5170g
While some of the watches on this thread are beautiful, and all are fantastically made, some are downright ugly ( I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that) and it looks to me that they are chosen beCause of the make and nothing to do with the aesthetics ????
Even if i could afford, im not sure i could pull it off...
Indeed. I've held the PP 5711 in high regard for ages and, blue or white (I'd settle for both if my numbers came up!), I could buy one tomorrow however the £ I'd have to use is £ that should really be set aside for something else.
Plus the GF would kick me in the nuts, and that'd hurt!
My Breguet looks pretty ordinary next to some of these.
A man of simple taste me.
For me the grail is tag heuer monaco gulf chances of me ever owning one are slim very slim
Far too many to list. I've mentally totted up over 25 watches and stopped!
It's just a matter of time...
