I was looking at this as a beater but then I look into the description/pictures and he's 'improved the watch' by taking a blowtorch to the back to make it more conformable to wear!
What's the worst mutilation you've seen inflicted on a watch?
This horror:

Rare Jenny case plus Croton dial from a different watch. Sprinkle with a Daytona type bezel and Breitling crown and you have one sad (big) little monstrosity.

Here's a sellers pic of my Seiko Arnie -
That's a 18mm bracelet fitted to 22mm lugs, but the best bit was that the previous owner had only one 22mm springbar and one 20mm. Rather than spending a couple of quid on new bars he decided he would make the 20mm bar fit by squeezing the lugs in a vice. There was also a broken stem which he'd attempted to repair with superglue and the crown appeared to have been tightened with blunt pliers . It took me nine months to source all the parts to get it working again and it now looks like this -
Incredibly skillfully done, but dear god, why?
Buler diver with the lugs (badly) drilled out and a nail pounded through. It worked... I guess.
I've seen the odd watch round here fitted with an aftermarket 24hr bezel that doesn't actually have a GMT hand to make use of it. That always confuses me.

Skating away on the thin ice of a new day
God 20 minutes to unstick that
A while ago I saw a post from some effervescent youth who did "Xtreme" modding of Seikos, including one which had been turned into a sort of steampunk vampire thing by scraping most of the paint off the dial, leaving exposed brass that developed the inevitable Lovely Patina (c), and blood-red lume. Good inside a mediaeval VDB case, not so good inside a Seiko 5.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
I've mentioned this guy before. Easily the worst mods I've ever seen:
Yours for £650!
£1100!
Have a good chortle here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?ite...atches&_sop=16
Do these guys know how to appreciate a watch?
I dislike all mods, they all ruin a watch.
If you don't like a style buy something else.
Cheers,
Neil.
I'm amazed at how many people seem to mod Speedmasters. I imagine you have an opinion about that, Neil...
Personally I think it's sacrilege.
On the other hand, there seems to be a thriving cottage industry in modding Seikos and I quite like that (speaking as someone who used to own a Bill Yao-modded Yellow Monster).

How about this Seiko 6105...
Two of my 6015s: on the left how it should look like, on the right the 'Dremel'd' version of a 6105. Picked it up at a boot sale for 5 euros, sent it to Richard Askham for inspection and he gave the watch a new lease of life! He even refers to the watch on his blog: http://thewatchspotblog.com/?tag=seiko about halfway on this page.

Imho all watch mods are ugly .... it's like "tuning" a car.....
Designers wouldn't be needed if each wat must be modded.....
I think most factories are very capable to make a beautiful watch.
de gustibus et color non disputatur ?
