Paneristi.com - Any members on TZ and thoughts.

    Gents,

In my search I may have dropped on something of interest on Paneristi which is located in Europe.

Out of interest how do chaps on here find the site and members in general around the globe.

    Many Thanks

    Paul

Red face I've followed a few threads on there while researching Panerai's...

...the Forum has a mixture of blinkered fan-boys but also quite a few level-headed and sensible members. So no worse or better than other brand-specific sites I suppose. Quite a lot of useful info to be had and the classified section can also be good.

It's had it's heyday as a Forum though, as IMO the Panerai star is on the decline now and so is the enthusiasm and passion on Paneristi.

Be careful about putting a WTB on there as a bunch of scammers are stealing members IDs. The site owners are doing nothing about it either.

I do find the "M8s" stuff a bit too much and it is very US focussed in membership - I've only posted half a dozen times as it comes across as very cliquey (though is perhaps less cliquey than my impression). But there is a huge amount of knowledge on the site on Panerai related matters.

I've bought a couple of relatively low value things on there, both from the UK and the US and it has all gone smoothly. As others have said, there seem to be quite a few scammers stealing member IDs at the moment which would make me particularly nervous about a high-value purchase (unless it was in the UK and I could go and see it in person).

There's two very separate selling areas (for watches) on Paneristi; the Collectors' Market & the Dealers' Market. Which one is it?

Thanks gents for the comments and very 'proceed with caution'.

This is the example in question.

    Thoughts??????

I have emailed the seller with a list on questions and I am awaiting a reply.

Wasn't the term 'Paneristi' coined by a TZ-UK member about 10 years ago?

And did he go on to found his own Panerai website?

The site was started by a bloke called Guy Verbist in 2000.

I've heard from longtime, though now dormant, members that it's a very dangerous place to buy. The advice was to stay away unless you really know what you're doing.
