How well do they keep time? 8L35 is their top tier movement so am hoping performance similar to cosc should be achievable?

Bit hit and miss. The 8L35 isn't regulated like the GS version so it's -10 to +15 against -4 to +6 for COSC. My old Sbdx001 was with in 2 seconds per day but my current sbdx017 is roughly +8.

I have mine since Thursday and she has gained only 5sec since then. Probably too early to state about her stability but sounds good for the moment.

my Sumo with 6R15 runs at 6+ after 6 years, without being serviced, so I'd be happy with anything close to that.

I darent show you a close up of my Spork... i bought it for a £100 from the sales corner... and have worn it as a beater ever since... and it brings me to tears how hard I am on my watches... so my beloved Spork now needs a complete case refinish, new bezel insert, and a crystal!!

    Cheers,

The Spork is made to be worn as a tool, use it, abuse it, they always look good.

@lewie - very much prefer the original steel bezel.

Has the advantage of not showing any scratches as much as the black bezel would. Plus, gives the watch more presence.

6159 reissue, now that's a proper reason for the end of the SBDX017

Yep, that looks great, but if its a hi-beat and a sapphire crystal, I suspect it will be the thick end of £5k. I imagine that would be part of the SBEX range. SBEX007 maybe

The 6159 reissue is listed as a 1500 unit limited edition, model number appears to be SLA025J1. They could easily do an SBEX version and a lower priced version with an 8L35 to replace the MM300. But isn't the 8L35 movement with a 28k rate classed as high beat? Sure it's not 36k but they could still get away with hi-beat on the dial.

No the 8L35 is the basic high end non hi-beat movement; the 8L55 is the hi-beat equivalent and runs at 36,000. Same basic design I believe but with a few bits upgraded and a whole bunch of extra jewels.

Difficult one this. i suspect if you can get one for less than £3k when it comes out, you probably won't lose much on one

I was looking at the same watch in the Watch & Clock shop MK only last week. Good looking watch, love the dial.

I found a side by side comparison of MM300 vs 6159 and if the reissue is close to original I prefer MM300.

That is a stunner no doubt, but it's a 45mm watch. I've been wearing a 36mm recently and i can't tell you how good it feels, I think I'm done with larger watches for now.

Today’s new pick up, a 5j22-0AA0 Kinetic Auto Relay. It probably held the claimed ‘4 years charge’ back in the day, I guess now though it will need to be worn to keep it alive. Worth the commitment!

Loving/hating this thread. There's something about the quality/variety/value that makes them a great threat to my wallet than any of the obvious Omega/Rolex.

Just received a new turtle. Seems nice enough. Very comfortable. Alignment typical. Perfect at 12, 3 and 9 including the bezel but off at 6.

    It's not a bug it's a feature!

EDIT: on closer inspection, it's slightly off at 12 but not really bothered to be honest. By far the worst alignment I've ever had was the bezel on my Sinn U1SDR

Agreed; thinking a Tuna is the next on the list. Probably just a bog standard quartz though.

Really loving this silicone strap; it's extremely comfortable, albeit I've heard it is a bit of dirt magnet

Mine came with an amazing after market bracelet but i wear it on one of Eddies green NATO straps.
The new Seiko rubber is lovely but still too long for my lady wrists.

Yes, looking at this one the strap is going to be too long on anyone with smaller wrists than me, which is 7.25in.

I've eventually found the perfect strap for my 70's Seiko 7000-8000. It's a Di-Modell Bali alligator grain:
