Nice looking watch. Can I ask if that’s a strap code clasp, if so do you know if they are milled or pressed steel?!

    Cheers.

The bracelet is Uncle Seiko. And the clasp looks pressed.

Bought a 62Mas (149) at AMJ but after a few days without shipping updates, discovered they didn’t actually have one in stock.

But apparently Goldsmiths have the grey version with 20% off... Do I pull the trigger? Really wanted the blue...

They certainly had a few 149's recently as I purchased one, I also know another member here did and there was one left it stock. This was a couple of weeks ago though and I think there are very few if any 149's remaining in the UK.

I tried a 143 before purchasing mine and while its a lovely watch overall its no where near as nice as the 149 in my opinion.

If helps there are few in Europe on C24 at only slightly over retail. I could not vouch for the sellers though.

Thanks. AMJ said they were busy due to the bank holiday, it’s unfortunate as the watch was showing in stock.

Working on another deal with them. Never bought from them before so let’s see how this goes.

Here is my current SOC on the Seiko front.

They always seem to creep up on me... and before you know it... you have a little sub collection of them. :)

It looks great with the signed crown, coin edge bezel and ceramic insert. Possibly a sapphire too. Did you build it with the 6R movement as well?

SBDC001 and SBDC051 both on Zuludiver rubber straps with brushed Seiko aftermarket buckles. Both wear beautifully.

Very nice, I’m currently weighing it up between a turtle, sumo or the marinemaster 200. Tricky decision.

Is the dial impressive in the flesh? I can never judge how the save the ocean dials look from photos either.

The Mantas do not stand as out as much in normal light. The dial has a skin like texture.

Have two other modern Turtles and this one has a different bezel edge. Being more expensive does show.

The Seiko pictures do not do it justice, although the Mantas are more visible the texture is not in those pictures.

I was impressed. The other Save the Ocean I have with the Whale skin dial has more lighter blue colours, this one is darker blue to black gradient.

If in doubt; this is one that has to be seen in the flesh.

Out of those three it is definitely in price order. MM200 at the top, Sumo in the middle, and (King) Turtle at the bottom although the Turtles are very good and I'm yet to see a King Turtle with bad alignment.

Crown and bracelet let the Sumo down for the price and the sapphire isn't as good as the sapphire on the MM200. Sumo and Turtle both come with the same bracelet whereas the MM200 bracelet is leagues ahead. MM200 is the only one with a DiaShield coating.

I still have the Sumo and the MM200 but not the Turtle. Might add another in the future (or a PADI turtle) but not a priority.

This was my dad's, worn for many years. The second hand just about moves if the rotor is spinning, but otherwise not so much.

Sounds interesting and you definitely don’t get any impression of the texture in photos, I will have to try and see one for real.

I quite like the turtle but it’s a matter of working out if I’d rather pay a bit more for one of the others. Some of the older sumo models can be had for about turtle money. I quite like the “blumo” version for example. Your green version is nice.

I think the PADI may well be my favourite turtle although there are a few versions I like.

Very nice! I had a similar one briefly but had to let it go as the bracelet was too small and I didn’t fancy my chances of finding extra links. I could have worn on a strap but the bracelet had been a large part of the appeal. Shame

Totally agree on this one. Bracelet is so fluid with the case it is just perfect. It has hammered finish, great and simple buckle that is so easy to adjust for every wrist and I wonder why this buckle isnt so alive today...simple, not expensive and does the job (no sizing torture, simple sizer+locker)

My one says hi. Bracelet is super comfortable. Really lovely watch to wear. Yours looks in great condition. Mine unfortunately has a couple of deep scratches. Is there any way to replate them. The scratches are not big but if I could repair it I would.

I think it depends on a case finish. Mine has somewhat hammered texture so any small scratches are really not noticable but it would be very hard to polish that if it gets some big mark (impossible). If you have polish/mate finish I think it wont be a problem. Crystal is easy to replace, any generic mineral will do. With cases and hands I have no experience; you ll have to dig find sth

I happened to find a Gasgasbones strap I’d originally bought for my Bremont World Timer (and not liked on it, at all), and thought I’d give it a go with my “Safarnie”. I reckon it’s a pretty decent combination!

Unable to desist from fiddling, I then also tried the spare shroud I’ve just had cerakoted. Grey, or green? Hmm...

Next job, black background date wheel with white text, black background day wheel ( anyone seen a Korean language wheel ?).

    New dial, thinking plain black.
Tempted to try vivid coloured fingers.

Green I think (though I have one of those green PVD Heuer 5100s so I'm probably biased).
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

It’s an SPB105J1; part of the MM200 series. The great blue hole version gets a lot more love but I preferred the colour way on this. It wasn’t getting as much wear so it had to go. I may come to rebuy it down the line!
