The bi-compax two register thingys are just great, I found these pics on the net, much nicer than the modern Zenith's imo.

Do you know what the red and black five minute blocks are used for?

I agree that the old ones are great, though I would single out makes other than Zenith to criticise for "modern" look.

Gone but not forgotten, this was mine and used the same Excelsior Park Movement as the earlier Zeniths

And this one used the same case as the Cairelli

Both fit into this thread just fine

Actually they're red and dark blue though that got a bit lost in the picture. I have no idea what they're for to be honest but something to do with yachting has been suggested. Any other ideas let me know!

And this one is long gone.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Yes, that is amazing, but it would be the white dial 5170 for me …. assuming I ever won the lottery ;)

I have always been a massive fan of twin-register chronos. Here are some of mine:

Plenty of options from Poljot. I still have the first one here, a sort of homage to the Eberhard Tazio Nuvolari seen in the post above. The others have long since departed, and my camera skills back then merit an apology in advance.

A lot of nice watches here, but the one in the OP is, I think, the nicest.

Outatime's Longines deserves a special mention though! Luvverly! I am a scruff and dont go to fancy do's, so this watch would be wasted on me, but it's very, very lovely all the same!

Is the one on the right the Jack Heuer commemorative watch? Looks quite large, 40mm?

T-H says 39mm on the left, and 41mm on the right. The subdial centres are the same distance apart, being the same movement, and there looks like a lot more than 2mm case difference to me.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

I sold my first, regretted what I'd done and spent a while looking for a replacement. Damn fine watches but despite being relatively cheap to buy they're pretty rare. Well worth it if you find a nice one though.

Some absolute beauties on this thread. The Seiko 6138 3002 and Heuer Bund are particular favourites of mine. I only own one, a small but perfectly formed ref 145.017 cal 860 from 69/70

Agree with that. The 5170G is one of the best looking watches around IMHO.

I will never have one but can admire the images. Great thread!

The one on the right is the Jack Heuer 80th birthday model. The left one is the JH Carrera 40th anniversary edition(40mm).

Despite the difficulty in finding an original example that hasn't holidayed in the Philippines, I love Seiko's 6138:

Edited to add that the UFO photo was taken by the previous owner, who is a far better photographer than I could ever hope to be.
