Have they no shame? Their own re-issue lacks the rotating bezel of the original, it's even bigger and it's an automatic .
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Came up another thread too - general concensus is it's a lazy effort.

Part of the character of the original is the Anti-Magnetique script on the dial. I'd rather have that than a date window, but I guess that's what the public demand.

I wonder when they will do a re-issue of their AM 6B/159???

Another bad reissue on the market

Beautiful watch. Much more elegant than the re-issue.

There just seems to be something missing, not sure exactly what it is. Over design?

    I agree. It has "it".

    The triangle on turning bezel?

Sorry to say but I do like that "hidden"date.

But without turning bezel it is not my watch.

Re-issue is a nice looking watch, but the original wins by a country mile in my opinion.

Maybe it's just me, but I never have been able to get along with these reissues of historic watches where they add a date window and don't make the effort to unify the design of the date with the design of the rest of the watch. Longines in particular has a habit of just using the standard ETA date wheel with its modern font, which looks nothing like the text on the rest of the watch. Just look at this one, the date looks like the digital readout on a clock radio compared to the rest of the dail...

I understand about cost-savings and reusing standard parts, of course, but you'd think if they were going to put on a date wheel they could have made the effort to integrate it more closely. The Omega Dynamic (1990's version) is a great example of this - say what you want about the overall design of the watch, at least they went to the trouble of creating a matching date wheel.

Or maybe I am just too obsessed with small details. It's a possibility. :)

    Hi Guys,

I actually really like the re-issue as well. I mean where can you get one in the U.K.?

    Thanks,

    Harrison.

If they really wanted to do a first class of date integration, it would have to be white printing, on a black wheel, and no white frame.

The watch should not have been a re-issue. Much better if it had been advertised as a new design, with a nod to the history of the CAF.

    Regards,

    Doug

A re-issue should be identical in every respect to the original......anything less is, well, less!

I like, and would happily wear, all three but...
    Longines Original > Precista > Longines re-issue.

  21. #21
Personally I like the original the date window blows. I do own a original.

  22. #22
Longines should have gone a more detailed way or leave such "want-to-be" clones. I like the original ones wíthout date;) BTW double rivets are a useless neo-modern character.

A shame they didn't go the way of the Conquest reissue, that has the same dimensions (35mm diameter) as the original and is a belter.

Compare with an original from 1956 that I've just finished servicing.
