Then avoid a silver gold Rolex as there will always be some who won't take you seriously because of the watch.

I was completely and utterly against two-tone watches, for exactly the reasons brought up above - old man image, car salesman, pretendy rapper, 1980's yuppie etc etc. However, I have seen a few of them on leather straps (or even Jocke's on the blue rubber) and thought they looked rather nice. So I think it's perfectly fine provided it's not on the two-tone bracelet, at which point it becomes rather "too much" in my eyes.

That being said, if you like it, then you like it.

Ignore the the children. In a few years once fashion has come around, they'll all be following your lead. Go for the 2 tone. Particularly if it's vintage, with rose gold. Lovely choice.

Ignore the pensioners, two-tone will never be fashionable again!

Unless you think this look will be fashionable again sometime...

If there is a watch that is more "old fartish" than a DJ is certainly a two tone DJ...
OP, you're on your thirties... Get a Sub (absolutely not a two tone!), go diving to some tropical paradise make it have some battlescars and then explain on which shipwreck your Sub got them...

I really adore the rootbeer GMT precisely because it's just so 70's and screams 'yes it's a Rolex probably worn by porn directors in the 70's with bad facial hair'. Kind of so bad it's good!!!
The 2 tone DJ however Just strikes me as boring and such a copied design. Most people I see wearing what I think is a 2 tone Datejust turn out to be wearing a lookalike brought from Argos on a whim as a kind of default 'smart watch' for the ill informed. Seriously doesn't every cheap range of quartz watches include a 2 tone on a jubilee Datejust clone? Rotary, Zeno, timex, you name it?!

Don't listen to the nonsense. Wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in.

Stick two fingers to those talking about car sales men and having to wear a sub in your 30's… they are probably a bunch of sheep to scared to be an individual in case someone pointed a finger at them and said "he's not like the rest of us, he's got a two tone watch on" in true school playground fashion, and they might get sensitive about it and run home to their mummies for reassurance that they are just like the other boys.

I'm in the first half of my 30's and I wear a two tone DJ regularly (including today). I always wear it on leather (but that is just me), sometimes like this:

    tan ostrich strap

    and sometimes like this:

    red turkey leg strap

"He's not like the rest of us..."

I don't think anyone is saying the OP SHOULDN'T wear what he likes, but clearly they're not to everyone's taste and he asked for opinions.

    I wouldn't wear a Sub either, though

    (Only kidding)

I heard a quote once that went something along the lines of "Everyone should dress like themselves, but do it deliberately". I forget who said this, but I think it is quite a good piece of advice and could be extended to watches.

Ok, according to Archie, two tone is OK for us under 50!

It creates that "f_ck off look" he says!

I suspect Archie has that "f^<£ off" look as if I ever met him it's likely to be the first thing I'd like him to do! What a tool!

I'm 43 and wearing a two tone DJ today that is almost as old as I am. Is this a f*ck off look? I dunno. I do know that waiting to 50 to wear a two tone anything would be silly.

I know WISers overstate the importance of what watch you wear, but occasionally I need people to take me seriously, for real!

Will a gold steel Datejust look completely crazy on me?

With casual wear and with suit.

Personally I don't mind the "can't afford an all gold watch" talk; my only concern here are to be taken serious.

I mean, only a real psycho would wear a two tone? ;-)

    What's your thoughts?

Two Tone looks naff on anyone, and even worse on a man of your age. It is very Del Boy.

    Stick with a single metal.

Absolute classic Rolex. Sold in their millions to many very happy owners.

As for tu-tones, my Wife has a tutone mid sized oyster date, and I have a nipple dial GMT.

This whole Swiss Tony thing is complete bullshit. In fact you see more used car salesmen wearing Brietlings, Omega or TAG's therefore the comment is laughable to be honest.

Wear what you like and enjoy.

Don't know what it's got to do with being 50, nothing I reckon. Only that two tone should be left in the 1960's, but hey, wear what you want.
