Red face 'Vintage' electronic games from the 70's and 80's - who remembers...

    SIMON and Milton? :)

I loved them - tried to source an original Simon and they're selling for loadsamoney on EBay!

Also 'Stylophone'? Marketed by Rolf Harris, as I recall.

I had Simon, Super Simon and quite a few other electronic games from that era. They were fun, if noisy, games.

Bop it is the modern incarnation. I remember the excitement of getting one of these...

It wore off pretty quick...and I never admitted it to my folks!

On this subject my folks were clearing their loft the other day and resurrected all my old consoles from the late 70s early 80s

    Vectrex
    Atari
    Collecovision
    intellvision

Then kids loved playing Vectrex which after a bit of settling fired up into life.

ive got stacks of games with all the consoles and may sell them as can't see I'll ever use them. May keep Vectrex though as it's such a quirky little machine with really playable vector games

Vectrex is pretty collectible now - I have one with every game ever made for it, plus the uber rare 3D headset system.

I also have these, among others in my games room:

I am sure you can recognise some!
So clever my foot fell off.

Never knew there was a 3d headset.

Yes, been reading up on it and saw that there is quite a following for Vectrex.

I too had many of those on your shelves - was a mad gamer and then lost all interest in my teens.

Oh wow! Check that out! That's a great collection....I have no idea what it's called but I had the one on the bottom shelf, second from the left until I managed to blow it up by forcing some none standard batteries into it (I was about 9 years old and I wanted to play with it!!)

Wow!! I had a few of those and seeing them again really takes me back!

Fancy a play-date? I'll bring whatever contraptions I can find in the attic. :)

I remember a "Snoopy Tennis" game that I played to death in the early 1980s.

Oooooh happy days, once played vectrex minestorm, their asteroids version, for about 20 hours trying to finish the game, and us oldies moan about our kids playing for too long!!!!! If I recall correctly you couldn't pause it so I had to gather the asteroids up and kill them till one none magnetic one was left, then you could put your craft close to a completed asteroid vector and nip off for a wazz and a sarnie!!! Nice collection, had the exact same pacman, have you got a frogger of the same era tucked away in there somewhere? Edit, just spotted it bottom right on pic. I think! Edit again sorry, after 20 hours all of the asteroids were magnetic so you had to choose just the correct angle and wedge the thrust button down so the last asteroid could not clatter you, then go for a wazz and a sarnie!!

Had loads as a kid, but all I have these days is a couple of Game and Watches and a Computer Perfection (made by the great Ralph Baer, who also made Simon)

    pic off internet..

I've got a ridiculous amount of consoles and handhelds though with boxes full of peripherals.

Oh, and the ultimate electronic game, shown here standing in the office

This thread got me thinking back to my favourite game at the time, a two-player, head-to-head football (American) game. I found a few on ebay, but none ship to Canada. :(

Now I must find one in Canada!

Christ! We used to play these games and love them. The kids would have a fit in the modern era. Barring the Minecraft phenomenon which I just do not get.
For me it was Astro Wars, spent hours and hours of my time on that. Also had aFirefox game too but my memories of that one are a little vague. As has been said, the last day of school term was abound with electronic beeps!

My two (11 and 4) sit on their iPods linked up playing Minecraft for hours. I try and join in but just don't get it at all and they end up attacking me or getting frustrated when I start every sentence with. 'Why?'

Interestingly though when Vectrex cam out they found the vector graphics quite engaging and played on it for a long time

Still have my Intellivision with the upgrade lumps and a crate of games and controller inserts.
It still works perfectly and is used regularly. :)

I loved Electronic Detective as a kid. The suspect cards were hilariously racist. Does anyone else remember that one?

Wow - I had that one as well . As soon as I saw the picture it brought back all sorts of memories. I didn't realise they made so many.
