Dealt with this eBay seller before, even visiting his house to view a watch that was listed on eBay (he only lives about 10 mins from me).....the watch was in worse condition than the listing/pictures described and so i politely made my excuses and left. Before that we had a good conversation about watches and no doubting the seller is knowledgeable but maybe a little misleading when it comes to selling. Anyways just my experience.

I don't think that can be right. The Apollo XI moon landing was in 1969 and this a 30th anniversary edition, ie 1999.

Its a 1999 watch sold at Harrods in 2000.........

I have only had email communication with the seller. The fact it has good papers, provenance and also looks in nice condition
swung it for me......it will be a keeper.....this time!

It was also the only moonwatch available April/December 1999

Just picked up a 3753, and it's lovely!

I had a reduced that had the hesalite, and this one is obviously the sapphire sandwich, but apart from being a bit hard to photograph the shape and profile is quite similar.

Thanks for that, had navigated to acejewelers.com but didn't find those links. Looks like a Gemini VII special watch.
One of 23, so was going to scratch that from my list but there appears to be 4 on chrono24
    http://www.chrono24.com/en/search/in...esultview=list

    what gives?
(edit: actually only 1, God bless my eyesight. The other 3 are equally rare Gemini VIII so I suppose the question still stands)

That's 23 limited editions; see link. The numbers produced reach into the thousands for some editions: info link.

Edit: Just to confuse things, I think there were 23 watches in the Mission Case issue:

    • CK 2915 replica
    • Gemini V
    • Gemini VI
    • Gemini VII
    • Gemini VIII
    • Gemini IX
    • Gemini X
    • Gemini XI
    • Gemini XII
    • Apollo VII
    • Apollo VIII
    • Apollo IX
    • Apollo X
    • Apollo XI
    • Apollo XII
    • Apollo XIII
    • Apollo XIV
    • Apollo XV
    • Apollo XVI
    • Apollo XVII
    • Skylab I
    • Skylab II
    • Skylab III

Apparently all have were later released individually except for the Apollo XIII.

I wish! Listed for US $105,000.00 on eBay (54 offers), but you did get 'FREE Economy Shipping'...I wonder, did that include any insurance?

Here are a couple of photos borrowed from your second link:

Is there a collective noun for Speedmasters?

I do somehow think that they made too many limited editions, that they have become un-"limited"....

Quite possibly the deal maker on this lot?

    Wouldn't that be good?

Here's a small compliment for you, I like the way you research the topic, distill the information and present it back complete with reference links where appropriate.

I thought that too but each limited edition has a limited production run and is made to commemorate different achievements in space so you could take your pick of the missions. For me I like Apollo 13, hence loving the Snoopy, I also love the meteorite dial as it adds a twist to the space theme. The jury is out on whether I like the Apollo XVII 40th Anniversary.

I'd like the think all of the limited editions added together come to a small portion of Speedmaster Professional models sold, when they're gone they're gone.

    So...which anniversary Speedmaster is this:

    ...?

Yes...I do know the answer and I'll post it up if no-one else gets it first.

No idea about this commemorating any anniversary, but this is an Armin Strom creation. One of a limited edition of 50? created about 20 years ago and costing approx US 50k $ at the time. I think that they had a platinum case or possibly a WG case and platinum dial.
20 years ago would have been the 25th anniversary of the moon landing - would that be it?

In terms of the collective noun, I think it should be a 'constellation' of speedmasters.

    I like that -good one.

My suggestion would be a 'Flight ' of Speedmasters.

That's good knowledge and impeccable logic...and better than I could do. It is indeed a "Moon Watch" 25th anniversary Apollo XI Speedmaster. As pictured, on a leather strap, it is AT 145.0063 while on a platinum bracelet it's AT 345.0063, although Omega's page shows the other version. I've yet to find a picture of one on a bracelet.

Armin Strom was responsible for the skeletonized movement in this watch and also those in several other precious metal Speedmaster versions.

    Nice!
I have a few NATOs in my drawer ready to put on when I manage to find one! Will post pics if I do!

An interesting watch I'd like to share.. I have thought about buying this for a few days, but the conservative half of me have won and I will still be looking for the good old 3570.50 instead. I have communicated with the seller, he is willing to take offers now (prob only around £100 discount), and he is based in the EU, so no customs!

(let me know if pics dont show up.. I think they are being blocked at work so I cant see them at the moment)

My speedy has just been returned by STS after a full clean and service (no polishing!). It is brilliant to have it back. Will post a thread later with some of the servicing pictures they sent me which are great. Fantastic watches!

I'd say the former. USD3.3k plus shipping equates to over £2k. Add VAT on import and you're up to £2.4k.
