Achtung!!
Meine Augen!
worst looking watch i have ever seen.
In 2008 Seiko produced a one off model: The Credor GBBX998.
It has a 12 beat, 43200 bph caliber denominated 8L88.
Cased in gold finished with japanese lacquer.
Not my cup of tea, either. Wonder how many they have sold and at what price they actually crossed the counter?
As I said before, the Asian market, different tastes etc.
Not my cuppa, but an interesting movement.
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Ah yes the Juri. fifty million yen and still looks like something bought cheap by a partially blind granny at a market stall for her least favourite grandson.
Horrible looking watch!!
Even the people with dark glasses and white sticks would find that ugly
That is just sour grapes because you can't afford it
A hand crafted movement like that is not meant to go into a black dialed ss diver; it is meant for the highest end watch jewely; a working Faberge egg. In my eyes the eggs I collect daily are more beautifull...
It does, like the chiming thing Credor, illustrate that Seiko is way haute up there. Technically the hautest of all.
Now a Faberge egg I would like to own. Where can these be bought? Ooh wait.
swap the word "faberge" with human
swap the word "egg" with poo
swap the word "hautest" with ugliest
Then that would be a statement i could get on board with. To be fair, the person who bought that clearly did so because he loved it, he definately couldnt have bought it to impress anyone.
8L88 12bps = 43,200bph
the only fully mechanical movement placed in actual production that has reached this level of beat-rate. The 8L88, introduced in 2006-ish has 41 jewels & uses "Spron" alloy for the mainspring. The factory specified accuracy standard for this movement is -10 to +15 secs/day [Mean Daily Rate].
All that effort to put a movement that doesn't even match the 'outdated' COSC standard, never mind the Seiko / Japanese equivalent standard in to a case which is more 70's poor taste kitchen/bathroom tile than Faberge.
Technical marvel it may be, but it fails in its fundamental function, accurate keeping time. Fugly too
looks like one of these watches one would win from an arcade machine.
Can't see it properly but I imagine the workmanship and attention to detail is fantastic. It's just pig ugly. Such a shame all that craftsmanship goes to waste on a really poor end product.
"A man of little significance"
To my eyes absolutely hideous but obviously the aesthetic is targeted at a particular, and different, market and I daresay the thing has never been outside of a display case (at least I hope so as I imagine from the small amount of very low quality Chinese lacquer-ware that we have knocking round the flat, that it wouldn't last a day).
How has the $600,000 value been determined? RRP, last auction price? Given the way that very determined Japanese collectors have pushed the market value of many things over the years it wouldn't surprise me if the figure is light.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
I think it's absolutely beautiful; like an antique Japanese cabinet or something. I don't like it or want it as a watch, but it's a thing a of beauty no doubt.
But for high beats rates ;) http://www.thewatchquote.com/The-Bre...ls-No_9723.htm
72,000vph...
It was sold by Seiko to the buyer for that.
Don´t worry about resale value as it will without a doubt be a heirloom of japanese fortune.
As to the value I think that no amount of money would see them make a second one for a mere mortal. Again like a Faberge egg in times gone by.
Not a style I'd want, but, really? Ugliest watch you've ever seen, people?
Nah, not even close... I've seen an AP today, that's uglier!
If you can't see the craftsmanship in there, too, you're in the wrong place.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
Don't like it as well, but there AP RO's that look far uglier, but don't get such a spanking as this one off Seiko.
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Am I the only one who thinks the Credor logo looks like the Disney castle?

You can find them used on sales corners.
Don't think even Rotary will be copying that one.
All in all this thread is making good companion to the Invicta COSC snob topic
Food for psychologists.
how is this watch snobbism?
most people think it looks rubbish regardless of manufacturer or price.
Got something similar in my Christmas Cracker if I recall
“Don’t look back, you’re not heading that way.”
not really a case of being a snob against brand, manufacturer, country of origin at all.
It matters not who or where it was made, aesthetically, to most, it's just plain ugly, that is all.
Did you post the wrong video by accident?
No matter how much you might want it to, that orient doesn't look all that much like the Breguet...
And that credor is, so far, the most tasteless watch Ive seen this year. The kind of garbage that, having already bought the nice stuff and gotten bored of it, only the truly wealthy can afford...

Hes also quite correct.
It is not the worst watch I have seen but it would not be on my list to buy - even if I could afford it. Which I can't.
I just went back and had another look at the thing - its truly hideous! Not even in proportion to the strap...
It makes the leopard spotted Daytona look like a work of art.
At least Seiko had the good judgement to keep it as a one-off - I can just imagine the designer being handed the finished watch, screaming "WHAT HAVE I DONE???" in Japanese and committing ritual suicide...
But then, the OP clearly posted it, not because he actually likes it, but to get a reaction from his target group of people. He will no doubt succeed.
I find these ugly watch threads thoroughly entertaining - they remind me somewhat of the "tattoos gone wrong" thread a while back in the bear pit.

All this needs is wingnut's dog turd, as they would get a good match.
What size is it ?
As a watch it is not to my taste, but as an object I think it rather beautiful and certainly the craftsmanship on display and technical specification of the movement something to be admired. I suspect many of the negative reactions derive from
a) the fact that it is made by Seiko and
b) the fact that the original post was made by Huertecilla
Either way, nothing to get one's knickers in a twist over.

That is because Í don´t fool myself about it nót being a Seiko brand.
Btw, this watch was appearantly named ´Juri´ which subsequently became a name for a line of Credor models which afaik know have nóthing in common with the originator.
As to the DisneyCastle symbol, there have been several models with that absent from the dial.
Tbh I think Seiko should be more consequent in the use of logos for this range. As it is you can find any combination of Credor, Seiko and the DisneyCastle on the dial.
