Smiths would be good.
And shouldn't that be a NOSN then?
Just pointing out that NATO has two official languages English and French and has another person has pointed out the two terms are used on patches and markings together.
Eddie has already said that it will most likely be a SMITHS, I really like the design by the way.
You are not really buying NATO straps that is the term that has come into use as they have a NSN and has just stuck.
Smiths would be good.

I'll see about getting a NSN for it.

Hi Eddie,
this project looks very promising.
Stay tuned.;-)

Very, very nice. Looks like it belongs in Total recall. I'm in for this quartz beauty
Awesome watch, good luck, will probably purchase if long life quartz as you say
I like it
I like this a lot, especially with the rotating bezel.
Reminds me of my VDB vintage 2012......
I am quitting the watch habit, so not sure I would buy one.....

I've now received one of the prototypes. It's very thin at only 8.75mm.

It looks good, Eddie.
We can't all like it.
I don't .
I'd like it if there was a bezel version, interesting design though.
Any chance of seeing it in profile please (on and off the wrist)?
How does the "NATO" strap sit against the case back / sling between the lugs?
Many thanks
As is pretty much always the case, a change of dial can transform a watch. It is its face after all. I rather like the case, but the dial in the sample you have does nothing much for me. I'd certainly be interested in seeing how it might look with some alternative dials.

I think that's rather neat looking.

Skating away on the thin ice of a new day
The more I look at this, the more I like it.
Like some others, I would love to see more lume, but I am definetly interested Eddie!
A slow morning at work for once, so able to have a little play with this one. There is defenitley something interesting to the base design - but agree the lume plots might benefit from being a tad bigger.
I wondered if it was to sterile and tried a much busier military dial.
But I think maybe I prefer it on a middle ground, slightly more to the markings but no arabic numerals.
As ever, I'm doing this for a design exercise - little bit of entertainment and happy for it to be ripped up!
I think the third version looks really good.

Really like number two.Hope it's going to be Precista branded
On the fence with this one. Agree a better font/name on the dial would make a big difference. Nice to see some variety however :)
Price point will be key I think.
Google says it's -1680.

I like number 3, but the hands seem a bit wide to me FWIW

I thought the final seven digits of the NSN were the manufacturer's ID, which in this case is different to the NSN for the PRS-18-Q (6645-99-891-0585).
Am I wrong and this denotes something else or is it a different number because this watch is not a Precista, so the manufacturer ID is based on the name on the dial rather than the company behind it.
"I forget who it was that recommended men for their soul's good to do each day two things they disliked ... it is a precept that I have followed scrupulously; for every day I have got up and I have gone to bed."
I have no idea, I requested the NSN and this is what they issued me.

From memory, the last seven digits are non-significant.
It appears I was misinformed or remembering incorrectly. I was looking last night at some website somewhere to work out what the markings on a CWC G10 meant and I was sure it said that the last seven digits were for the manufacturer, so a Precista G10 had a different number from a CWC G10 because they were different manufacturers. Of course, I can't find that information now, but I have found this site, which seem authoritative and defines those seven digits as non-significant.

I know that the "99" is the country code for the UK.

And 6645 is the code for timekeeping instruments.
The watch below has 44519/89, so does that mean there were 44 thousand watches issued before this one in 1989? If that's the case there must be several hundred thousand G10s kicking around somewhere.

From NATO Stock Number on Wikipedia:
Really like this and would buy it with the SMITHS name on it for sure....................arrival date?
...........and no bezel please, let's keep it simple just as it is.
