Would it help to know that the Yellow Monster is going to a good home?
This is what I'm wearing today...
I had this one on yesterday....
and here are a few more of the family.....
This morning I sent off my three Seiko Monsters by RMSD to two lucky buyers, and now... I don't own a Seiko for the first time in 10 years
It's really very strange and slightly unnerving for some reason. At one point I owned six at the same time, but ever since I got into this strange hobby of ours the Seiko brand has been an ever-present part of my collection.
My reason for parting with my three much-loved first generation Monsters is clear - I sold them as part of a cull of my collection intended to recoup a large part of the cost of the brand-new Breitling Avenger II Seawolf I've just bought. So I can't exactly complain. However, it's still a wrench.
So below is the pictorial history of my Seiko ownership - a small homage to a great brand:
Seiko Flightmaster - my original introduction to the brand
Seiko 7002-700A (A1) - my flirtation with 'vintage' Seikos
Seiko 5 7009-3130 - handed on to me by a family member. Very pretty but really not my thing
Seiko Sawtooth - loved this one and only sold it to help to fund my first Breitling purchase
Seiko SKX009K - iconic, and just great on a Super Oyster (hated the rubber)
Seiko Black Monster - bought new from Eddie, and the watch that led to my Monster obsession
Seiko Orange Monster - bought on SC and the only one I didn't keep on the original bracelet
Seiko (Yao) Yellow Monster - fell in love with it when Deano advertised it on SC and had to have it. My favourite of all of them.
There - I think I've got some of the angst out of my system.
Cheers to all,
Simon

Yes it does........... sort of..........!
Good to know it's going to a believer!
Let me know when it arrives...
Simon
Yes, but selling 'that lot' and an Abyss strap to Ross still leaves me about £1,800 short, so the cull continues!
That's why my much loved Steelfish is up for sale...

Second generation (i.e. current) Seiko Monster ref. SRP311J1.
£235 via Amazon at the moment from CW Watches...

P.S. Not that I was looking, or anything... far too early for acute withdrawal symptoms, surely?

Fair enough I understand your position and i would do he same for the right watch but I know they would gradually come back to me over the years...going by your signature your not short of something to wear!!
I'm actually having a reverse time of it to you!
I had always had at least one, farmed them all out.. and took recent delivery recently of this!
You'll be back!!
I have also just snared one of these in the last 24 hours...
Fingers crossed it sits well on my wrist, as they're quite unique too!!
I can't imagine ever being without a Seiko.
Hi there..
The first is my newest acquisition, it's quite a rare old (Titanium) bird, and I've been looking a long time to see one come up. Saw it on a forum about 3 years ago, and only saw another crop up this last couple of weeks.
The second is an odd bird, called a Seiko Nooka. Hopefully I'll have pics up soon, it will need a battery on arrival.
Greg.
I could never part with my Seikos entirely. You seem to be strong headed ;-)
Sorry to hear you're (temporarily!) Seiko-less. I had a Seiko, really liked it. Great brand - imo high quality watches at a reasonably affordable price.
We are really.. with our reverse psychology.
The blue Flightmaster was a nice choice as your first Seiko, the black variant of the same piece was my first ever Seiko too..
And I ended up Seiko-less. I even (stupidly) flipped off TWO 6138-0011 UFO's in recent times... a mistake which I also hope to reverse.
Can you see the parallels between us?
You'll be back as well. :)
I bet you'll have another. Today's piece:
