Thread: I am such a Rolex fan boy

  1. #1

I am such a Rolex fan boy

and so insecure about my Rolexes that I feel the need to have Seikos too!
The point is there are more than one watch brands to love/like and you need not pull down one to elevate your choice or preference.
I will defend unfair targetting of Rolex to the hilt but doesnt mean I cant appreciate other brands.
Apologise for the SBGE001 and SBDB001 missing from the pic as they were not handy.

I hate Rolex, I hate all their offerings, Seiko can "do" one too.
That's why I only own 6 watches in total, 4 Rolex and 2 Seik........... Oh hang on.
I'm not a hater I'm the other thing, lover? Nah, fan-boy? Nah, oh that's it a mug!

I feel the need for Seiko's too, I don't have as many as you though! - but I'm headed that way.

Yes, it has taken a while. Started with the SD600m several years ago.

OMG, Seiko diver heaven! Stunning collection Just curious, what kind of shroud is it on the Emperor Tuna in the background? Looks like the famous bronze Emperor Tuna mod I read about some time ago...

By the beard of Zeus, that is one impressive collection. I am not in a position to afford Rolex's but do collect Seikos and am pretty jealous of yours.

I have the same mindset as you. I just wish I could afford to buy multiple Rolexes the way I've been able to do with Seikos. Both great brands nonetheless.

There isn’t one single watch there that I wouldn’t choose to own (I’ve had but a few of your collection).

I feel almost guilty writing this due to the amount of love on this thread, but I don't understand the need to have so many watches by the same manufacturer that look so similar.
Unless of course, you are a Seiko diver collector, in which case, I admire your collection.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ My thoughts too, fab collection but at the risk of being called a heretic I don't see the point on having a lot that look the same. I have a GMT2c and for the same reason I would only buy a Sub date if it had a green dial/bezel otherwise it looks too similar......if I was bought one that would be different.
ATM my diminutive four watch collection all are very different looking watches.

In my opinion having lots of the same / similar model is quite satisfying and the collector's perogative.

I, personally enjoy having similar models, rational thinking does not seem to apply!

I feel pompous calling myself a collector. More like a hoarder:-)
In a sense tho, arent all of us who own more than one watch collectors?
Interesting thought- at what point does one turn from an enthusiast to a collector?
