Don't have any pics but here goes:

Audi 80 Coupe - in vile light metallic green
Peugeot 205 - flat red and the lowest of the low models
Fiat Uno - it was metallic grey, that's all I remember about it
Vauxhall Astra 1.6 GL - black and super sexy, not
Ford Fiesta XR2i - I loved this car, it was red and went like the clappers
Vauxhall Astra 1.8 SRi - white and basic
Renault 19 16v Chamade - Red and a drivers car
Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 SRi - Dark metallic green, I really like this car but it was always breaking down
Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 CDi - Puke metallic green, I hated this car with a vengeance, so much so that I swore I would never ever own a Vauxhall ever again
Honda Accord 2.0 ES - Silver auto, loved this car
Honda Accord 2.4 Type-S - Blue and love and still own this car

The first and the last cars are the only 2 that I've owned and still own myself, the rest have all been company cars.

In between I had quite a few on long term rentals, so an Audi 80, Mondeo, Focus, Rover 600, Jaguar X-Type etc...

    From the beginning..

1974 MGB GT - last of the chrome bumpers.
    Volvo 480 Turbo
    BMW 525i SE auto (E34)
    Porsche 944 2.7
    Porsche 968 Coupe
    Porsche Boxster 2.7
Mercedes CLK 320 (W209 - 2003 model) - 2 years old and started to rust, bits fall off. Sold back to MB after exactly a year.
BMW 525i SE manual (E34) - bought this to use whilst I battled with MB about the above.
    Then back to Porsche
    Porsche Boxster S 3.2

Then swapped with the Mrs in who had the sports car, me taking on the 'sensible' motor duties.

    BMW 540i V8 Touring (E34) - wasn't going to give up power/speed!
BMW 540i V8 Touring (E39) - as above but more modern.
Jaguar S-type 4.2 V8 SE - a much better car than the E39. Marmite looks, granted.
Current Jaguar XF 3.0D S. My first diesel. All of the oomph of the V8s but double the range.

A short and fairly dull list from me:

    Mk. I Punto 60,
    Ford Puma 1.7L,
    Mk. IV Golf GTi 1.8L
    VW Lupo 1.4L,
    Mk. I Mazda 6,
    Mk. 7 Civic Type S.

Got to admit I would have the Puma back any day, very fond memories of that car!

The Puma's am interesting one. Readily mocked as being a "bird's car". It was so right in many ways though - handled well and the 1.7 was a pretty well matched engine too. You know you could pick one up cheaply now if you want a bit of nostalgia?

I remember Tiff Needell doing a mid-sideways slide whilst changing gear on Top Gear in one of these. Cracking cars!

    ____

Just in case anyone's reading (and cares)

    Renault 5
    Ford Sierra Ghia
    Audi 200 Turbo
    Rover 216 Vitesse
    Rover 827 V6 Vitesse
    Volvo 480 Turbo
    Vauxhall Nova
Ford Escort something or other, Eclipse maybe?
    Ford Sierra 2.9 V6 4x4
    Saab 9000 CSE 2.3 HPT
BMW 740i V8 (I would never, ever, EVER have a BMW again. Diabolical junk.)
Saab 9000 CDE 2.0 Eco (tuned)
    Ford Mondeo ST24
    Volvo V40 T4
    Honda Accord
    Volvo S70 T5 Heico
    Mazda 6 2.3
    Volvo S40 Sport Lux
    Volvo V90 3.0 CD 24v
    Nissan Almera DCI 136

20 cars in 21 years of driving. The Nissan is WAY better than all of them.

I always figured the cars would be different in the UK but I had no idea how many cars and car brands I never heard of. For what it's worth here are mine.
    1967 Ford Galaxy hardtop
    1967 Ford Galaxy convertible
    1971 Dodge Dart 440 C.I.
    1973 Ford LTD.
1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser (Station Wagon 455 C.I.) fastest car I ever owned.
1978 Dodge 1/2 ton van shag carpet and bed in back. Vague smell of patchouli incense always
    1982 Buick Lesabre
    1987 Oldsmobile Delta 88
    1993 Chevrolet Caprice
    1994 Nissan 300zx 2+2
    1998 Chevrolet G20 work van
    1998 Oldsmobile 98 Regency
    2004 Acura MDX
    2005 Cadillac Escalade
    2007 Toyota Avalon
    2009 Acura MDX
    2011 Ford Edge

    1970 MG Midget

Gave it to my brother. He sold it for a VW camper to go to India. He got to Basingstoke and decided to buy an air ticket instead.

No car for many years, then :

    1996 Honda Civic VTi

Lovely engine ( 3 stage VTEC ) and chassis ( all round wishbones ) but dismal CVT transmission. Had an early satnav, very slow, all in Japanese. In combination with my own lack of language ability and my lovely wife's navigational excellence, resulted in the car becoming the divorce-atron. Sold it in 6 months. Kept the wife. Often wonder.

No car for many years then :

    2006 Merc A class 2.1l petrol

Super car, drove exactly like an SL. Which probably says something about the SL. Sold it because I only managed 600Km in a year. The rest of the time it kept the dust off my drive, at some expense.

Hey,it was a great little car, twin cyl boxer engine with a suspension set up that allowed you to go around corners at 40mph and a top speed of 80mph - maybe that was why I kept snapping the rubber band drive belts!!!!!!! Just because you used to see old dears doing 20mph in a DAF didn't mean to say they were slow cars. JUM537N was a great car, kermit green and a real babe magnet..rrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

Lada 2107 1500 - my learner car... indestructable tank, great off road ability, hopeless in the snow (RWD), but fine with 2 bags of cement in the boot...rust killed it after 23 years (losts of salt spreading during winters in Slovakia)

M reg. E36 318i - good car for what it was
T reg. Honda Civic 1,6 Tornado (painfully slow after 2nd gear)
53 plate Toyota Celica 1.8 VVTi (likes to be revved hard, no torque whatsoever)
    51 plate E46 318Ci 2L 16V (nice looking, poor(small) engine)
57 Ford Focus 1,6TDCi estate ( synonymum of a real work horse... great economy, incredibly reliable after 120K...still use it daily)
04 E46 330Ci sport (absolutely awesome engine, lovely interior, lots of electrical niggles and poor bodywork- rusty sills, wheel arches...same problems as Mercedes of this era...and the worst door closure i've ever experienced, you really have to slam it like a barn door)

on the lookout for an E90 LCI 330D estate

Not too many - my wife is more into cars than I am - and she buys new as well (currently she has a shiny white Audi TT).

So my first few cars were her cast offs, then in order, I owned

    Volvo 740
    Toyota Supra
    Mondeo
    Mercedes SL
    Audi A4 convertible

    And thats it.

Most of my cars have been bought new or almost new, right from the start. No, I don't have loads of money, I was a teacher after all, but my first post didn't have public transport available so a reliable car was a must and in those days cars lasted three years then rusted into small heaps on the ground.
    Thus:
    Reg
1978 Renault 5 1.3 Auto - sluggish to the point of being painful
1979 Renault 16 GTX Auto - Lovely comfy ride but the wings were rusting off when I traded in for:
    1981 Renault 5 1.4 Auto - much better.
1983 Austin Maestro Auto - the worst car I ever owned in most respects and the one I kept the shortest
1985 Ford Escort MkIII 1.6 Auto. Enjoyed this motor.
1987 Nissan Sunny 1.6 Auto. Crashingly hard ride yet still wallowed through corners.
1990 Toyota Carina 1.6 Auto. Touch underpowered but I loved it and kept it years.
    1998 Honda Civic 1.6 Auto - a bit dull
1999 Honda Civic 1.6 Auto Aerodeck - loved this. Looked good in estate form
2001 Honda Accord 2.0 Auto - great cruiser and had enough power for my needs
2003 Honda CR-V 2.0 Auto - one of my favourites but thirsty
2009 Ford C-Max 2.0 Auto - good car but ordinary
2012 Ford Grand C-Max 2.0 diesel auto. My first diesel and I love that engine. It's the first car to deliver 40mpg. Great load space which I need. Big for parking though. Rear sensors necessary. Why do the front parking sensors not come on unless I press the button?

    In almost 20 years:

1997 Fiat Cinquecento Sporting (First car, bought new, still owned although no used for 10 years+ - How many people wish they still had their first car?)
Lotus Sunbeam (scared me to death as an 18 year old!)
Porsche 924 (bought for £150 with no MOT - Cost me a fiver for a windscreen washer motor and it went straight through!)
Golf GTI cab (sold within a week after exchanging for the Porsche and made a few quid)
    1988 Bertone X19
1998 Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo (still own)
    1982 Fiat X19 (still own)

For a petrol head its a poor tally, but I have always had access to some nice cars.
I work in the used car trade now, so I get to buy and drive all sorts, some are bought with the heart, just to try them.

Not me. My first car was bought to fix my problem with attracting the opposite sex. Set of wheels, that's what I need, I'll be beating them away with a stick.
So I bought a 1950s Commer Cob van from the local fishmonger in Liskeard. All I could afford.
It stank. No matter what I did - repaint, fumigation, sulphur candle - it stank of fish.
To be fair, so did the girls I was trying to attract.

    1977 - 2.0 GL Cortina
1984 - 1.6 Ghia Escort (this I had stolen from a car park in Alton, Hants whilst at work one day ...)
1987 - 1.6i Ghia Orion (this was written off - truck driver on the M3/A316 - he changed his mind about a exit / lost control and turned 90 degrees across the road in front of me ... brown trousers time)
    1990 - 1.6i Ghia Orion
    1994 - 2.0 GLX Sierra (company car)
    1996 - 1.8 LS Vectra (company car)
1994 - 1.8 L Cavalier (did 93,000 miles in this - had 54,000 when I got it - was travelling weekly Manchester > South East whilst a contractor)
2001 - Mercedes C200K (first car that I got new)
    2004 - BMW E46 330Ci (best car I've had)
    2006 - BMW E92 330SE Coupe
    2011 - BMW E92 325 M Sport Coupe
    2014 - BMW F32 428 M Sport

Living in London I don't do a lot of miles so I keep my cars a good few years - only on my third car and I turned 40 this year!
    1995 fiat punto 55s
    2001 Audi a3 1.8t Quattro
    2007 BMW 330d m sport touring (current)

Whilst the punto was hopelessly slow in open traffic it was pretty good fun for darting around in London traffic.

I started to complete my list, but gave up as I was getting close to three figures & kept forgetting some!

All I know is that it started with an MG Metro when I passed my test in 1989, then followed a collection of both good & bad & is now an SLS.

    What cars have you crashed.

Just to follow on to the cars you have owned thread. What about cars you have crashed.

1979 - 1959 Ford Pop (100e) - T-boned a mini outside Kempton Park one very wet night - she pullout. I nailed her bang on the door pillar. The mini was a written off, the Ford Pop was slightly dented.

1980 - 1959 Ford Pop (100e) again!! Rear ended a Beetle in Raynes Park. His exhaust pipe pieced my front valance. both cars repaired (by me).

1982 - Lancia beta Couple - rear ended (again) a Mk3 Cortina on a roundabout in Clapham. Minor damage.

1986 - Lancia beta Coupe - Side swiped by a Coach in Epsom. Destroyed the front, then took out the drivers side before knocking me into the curb and smashing the rear suspension. Gutted!!

1997 - Vauxhall Vectra (utter crap) - reversed on to (not into) by an Army Land Rover 110 in Earlstoke. No damage to the landy, but completely **** the front end of the Vectra. Very scary seeing another car try to mount yours.

2001 - Peugeot 406 (coupe) - A36. Head on with the Seat Toledo, who decided to turn right in front of me whilst I was traveling at about 40 mph. After which I cannoned in to the wall of a pub. Driver of the other car taken to hospital, while I had to be extracted from the car . Both cars went to the scape yard. Her fault and she was prosecuted for driving without due care.

2006 - Porsche 964 - reared by a Brand New BMW 750, on route to Le Mans. Damaged the rear bumper and an excellent excuse to replace it with an RS rear bumper.

2007 - Porsche 964 - a Dyson Cleaner fell off the wall in my garage and put a dent in the bonnet of the Porsche. Dent needed to be pulled and re-painted (along with the bumper to match :) )

Actually this was much better than expected - no accidents caused by me since 1982, and more importantly accident free (touch wood) since 2007.

You can see why young drivers get hammered on insurance

Right this is quite embarrassing. I've owned loads ! However, I did work in the car industry so I have an excuse..

    So from 1882 - 1998
    Mark 1 escort (banana yellow)
    Mini Clubman
    TR7 (worst car ever)
    BMW 2002
    MGB GT
Morris 1000 (never really drove this, it just stayed in the garage)
    VW Scirroco (Mum's old car)
    Honda Prelude
    XR3i
    XR3i Cab
VW Golf GTI Mk 2 16v
    VW Karman Ghia (Beetle)
    TVR S3C
    VW Karman Ghia (Real one)
    BMW 325i Cab
    BMW 320i
    VW Golf GTI Mk3 16v
    VW Golf VR6

Then from 99-2013. I got a new car every year through my wife's job at Toyota.
    2 x MR2 (1x coupe 1 x roadster)
    2 x Celica
    2 x Rav 4
    3 x Lexus Is200/250
    Prius (just to try it)
    Lexus CT200h
    Lexus CT200h F Sport
    GT 86

I've just realised that I have had a different car every year since I passed my driving test, albeit for the last 14 years I didn't technically own them !! I've never owned an Audi or Merc, not sure why? Don't have pics of many but one that sticks in my mind was this. Slow, noisy, cold, wet, unreliable....but an absolute CHICK MAGNET.

    Small list for me:

    - Fiat Punto 1.2 Sporting - yellow. Only 80 bhp but surprisingly fun. Questionable reliability.
    - Toyota Yaris T Sport - Dependable and with a bit more poke than the Fiat.
    - Hyundai Coupe V6 - Looked great but thirsty and a bit gutless above 60. Heavy depreciation.
    - BMW 325i (E46) - Auto and gutless. I now think it had been clocked. The handling was shot.
    - Skoda Octavia VRS Estate - Peviously an Auto Express long term test car. Great TFSI engine and felt like it would have gone on forever. Bit of a Plain Jane though.
    - BMW 330d Msport Touring (E91) - Looks great (IMO) & I'm loving the torque!

    Here we go...

Fiesta 1.6S - looked nice, but that was it. Vibrated like mad over 4000 rpm and really quite slow
Escort RS Turbo - characterful, rapid money pit. Over 200 genuine bhp after £3.5k of tuning and the rest of the car couldn't handle it...
Ford KA - asthmatic engine, amazing handling on tuned suspension and 15" wheels. Cost me less on PCP than the insurance on the RS Turbo - and it had free insurance!
Volvo 440 - a hand-me-down after returning to the UK from travelling
Focus 2.0 ESP - good on roundabouts but very lacklustre engine
Ford Racing Puma - wow, what a drive! Unfortunately the engine was too wimpy for the rest of the car which was really very well engineered imo
VW Golf GT Tdi 130 - opened my eyes to a performance diesel, but really floaty handling
Mercedes 300ce-24 - an appreciating classic that was absolutely mint, but 19mpg did it for me as a daily driver. Sold to a trader for £4.5k who sold to a London buyer for £9k!
Skoda Fabia VRS - felt quick, didn't handle. Traded at a dealer for the price I paid (discounted) new, a very slow depreciator!
Smart Brabus Roadster Coupe - great car if ignoring the slow steering and gearbox. Sounded fantastic, never felt slow, real character and no doubt a future classic. 50mpg!
MINI Cooper S (supercharged, immense screaming sound from some fancy induction kit but otherwise felt slow due to long gearing)
BMW 330d E46 - great car, great engine, but early onset of rust put me off
Mercedes E320 CDI - Great car for putting in the miles, fantastic Harmon/Kardon hifi. Sold only due to compulsory company car...
Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi - joining a contractor to the public sector meant a compulsory "modest" company car. I picked the Focus over the typical Mondeo as thought it'd be more fun. Not a bad car, but interior did feel a step down from the German cars I'd had
BMW 135i coupe - great engine but didn't feel fast (until you saw the speedo!). Truly awful ride on run-flats. The least reliable car I've owned too, broke down the day after buying it - had turbo issues, fuel pump, fuel pipes, new camshafts, seat adjustment broke, numerous electrical gremlins. Supplying dealer bought it back after BMW UK intervened
Mercedes CLS - stunning looker, airmatic suspension good on Sport, but made me feel seasick in Comfort mode. On owning it a few weeks and washing it by hand I determined it had had a full respray. This put me off and it had to go after never being fully sure of its history from that point on
BMW M135i - much improved over the last 135 in almost every respect. This time the 8-speed auto. Very quick AND efficient (40mpg on a steady motorway run). But it felt seriously under-damped for back road fun, so much so that I drove it slower than the diesel Focus owned a few years ago. Limited opportunities to use the performance and the jiggly ride even on motorways meant the novelty wore off faster than expected. A great 30min car, but not so good for 8 hours of driving in a day.
Mercedes E250 Cdi - early days, picked it up last week. Noisy under hard acceleration, but swift on part throttle, very relaxing demeanour and plenty of toys. Achieves 50+mpg on a run and rides excellently. For long days in the saddle (seat) it seems to fit the bill. For now...

But since I vacillate between fun and relaxing cars I really think I need a weekend toy for blasts when in the mood. I'll see what I can talk the missus into driving daily ;-)

Afraid it's not an adrenaline charged list......

Ford Ka - fantastic little run about, dirt cheap to run and service. Great for parking and just like driving a dodgem car. Still miss it
Ford Focus - boring as hell but reliable
BMw 520d - like driving an aircraft carrier but I love it. a really great drive and very economical

    VW Beetle 1300 (modified)
    VW Passat (not modified)
    VW Beetle 1600 (much modified)
VW Golf GTI (Mark 1 - modified)
    VW Beetle Cabriolet (not modified)
VW Beetle (Cal-looker. 1900cc, twin Weber IDF's, barely a standard mechanical part left by the time I'd finished. Sold to a record producer who travelled from Scotland to buy it)
VW Scirocco Storm (much modified - previously the property of LJK Setright)
VW Golf GTI (Mark 1 - you've guessed it)
VW Golf GTI (Mark 2 - hardly modified at all)
VW Golf GTI (Mark 1 - put together using the knowledge gained from all the previous ones that I'd modified!)
Honda Civic VTi (1.6 Vtec, wishbones all round. Fantastic car)
Caterham 7 Supersprint (Oselli engine, trailing arm suspension at the rear)
Honda Civic VTI (the 1.8 version)
Company cars: Honda Civic 1.6, Honda Accord 2.2 diesel, Ford Focus diesel (the least worst option when our car scheme took a turn for the worse)
    VW Golf 2.0 TDI

You may have spotted a theme or two.

Short and sweet list (and partly a reflection of not being single at any stage of my driving history - a few of the guys I hung around with in my teens/early 20s had Cosworths/GTiR's/MR2 turbos etc and it was a choice between cars and my - still to this day - wife).

Prior to buying my own car, I had access to numerous cars with my first job (everything from an 1100cc Saxo to a modified Saab 900 Turbo).

1996 Rover 214Si 16v (bubble shape - and fitted with an open air air filter for a bit of nuisance value - it was also a bit Halfords-ised inside) bought in 1999 - sold to buy
1999 Rover 200 BRM (really loved this car - with the standard orange grille - standard bar a bigger throttle body, air filter and exhaust) bought in 2001 - written off (Category C) while parked up
1999 Peugeot 206 Grand Tourisme (bought with less than 5k on the clock, added a custom/quiet exhaust and some later spec lights and sold it when I realised I was doing less than 600 miles between MOT's) bought in 2003. A car bought on the spur of the moment to fill a gap, and one I was surprised to find I actually liked - bar the long shift on the gearbox and offset pedals. Sold with very low miles and possibly something I should have kept as an investment.

The wife and I then moved to one car...
1998 Starlet SR (an absolutely cracking little car and a car my wife would still have now if we hadn't had kids) that she bought in 2001 (it had the interior retrimmed, a decent sound system and I changed the lights over to bring it up to date). Replaced with...
2004 Golf GT TDi 140 5 door (the perfect first family car and not a bad drive) bought in 2009. The first car to remain completely standard (standard bar BBS wheels I bought for it). We owned that for 5 years before selling recently to buy
2014 (64) Golf GTD 184 (first car bought new and a car that we are running it at the mo but that does so many things so well). This one's likely to be a keeper - the wife's thinking 10 years and it will probably be the first car to remain completely standard.

    2. Volvo 340/360 (about 12 of them, as I bought them cheap from a dealer (they were traded in by the truckload for 440's) and sold them ASAP for a little more to fellow students, which kept me mobile during school years)
