I probably won't be able to open on 15 October

It's unlikely that I will re-open on Tuesday because I have no boxes to ship the watches in (the 2-watch traveling case). I ordered them a month ago and they usually take about 10 days but the supplier had none either and I've been checking all week but he still has none so no chance of getting any by Tuesday now :-(.

Good. Hopefully they arrive the week after as I'll be at home during the day and not in an internet free zone.

On the other hand, I've got about five of those boxes lying around if I send you one you could send it back to me with a PRS-82 in it.

I don't mind if the PRS 82 is packed in an old shoe box - I'd still buy one!

How about, "If I send you a picture of a case from a prior purchase will you sell me an 82?" :)

Hi Schoffers old chap. I tried a TF aviator on my Trintec Zulu but the colour seemed not dark enough I might have to have a go at it with wire wool and boot polish to "age" it. This nice one I got from Buren 01 online, it is their Fleiger model. I love the way it tapers after the lug collar and it lends it an "aged" feeling, so I now see it as my Speedbird GMT Fleiger. Good quality and colour too. I also got one for the Zulu and a black one for the Revue Thommen Airspeed. I seem to get irritated by my inability to get my metal straps to feel right.

That's not age it's alteration. Genuine ageing only comes with wearing a strap. It's like putting a faded bezel on a Rolex GMT, it's faking the appearance.

Yes Fester, I will not run counter to the accuracy of your pertinent and laser sharp observation. Age does take time, the word itself being the discriminate and most rigorous descriptive of the passage of temporal continuum. I will reach into the ether and adjust the word with "... " to indicate my looser use of the "etymon". I am sure I will transgres further, if I already have not, so I apologise in advance if I have yet not done it, and apologise now in case i already have.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. I really need to know if I should risk getting disciplined for using my phone on the shop floor some time this week.

I probably won't be able to open on 15 October

Sooooooooo..... These boxes must be special. Can I join the waiting list for a box please. If possible box serial #007.

Thanking you in advance kind Sir of the realm.

I'm a little confused... What have watch boxes to do with selling straps, for example? And, by the way... Which boxes? Have all watches the same box? Even the PRS-68? I remember it should come in a peli case...

    Sorry, just to know...

I can't open the website and restrict orders to straps only or watches only for that matter. I have the Peli cases but they are for the PRS-68, PRS-30 and DN GMT. If I use these for the other watches, there wouldn't be any for the DN GMT because the lead time for the Peli cases is longer.

Are you attempting to manipulate the free market price by creating an artificial shortage?

I"m more than happy to ship them back in exchange for the chance to buy an 82. I'd be happy to take delivery in this:

Ok, it's clear now, thanks! Obviously I didn't mean you should provide every watch with Peli cases, only that PRS-68 and others at least could have been sold... ;-)

I discovered this morning that the box manufacturer has gone bankrupt. I spent all day yesterday searching for boxes in the UK and even considered things like spectacle cases and memory-foam hard disk zipper cases (thinking outside the box) but nobody has quantity. The man from Peli is calling tomorrow to see if he has anything suitable but it won't be an instant fix.

I'm sorry, I take a bad news to you, the Unitpak has been bankrupt on 24/Sep, beacuse the factory go bankrupt too suddenly, I haven't any preparation, so can't timely inform you, we checked with some person work in the factory, they told to me your order not start produecc, the factory was seized by the court and the boss escaped with the money, so your 50% deposit might not catch back,.

Ouch, especially since you might lose your deposit.
That's a real spanner in the works as I guess future projects are dependent on current revenue which is stalled by not being able to send out any watches at present.

That's a real bugger Eddie. Fingers crossed Peli comes off. Just an idea but to help cashflow you can do one of two things:

1/ Remove the 82 and other Banda dependent from stock so that when the DN GMT comes in stock, which I'm guessing in imminent, you can carry on doing business (I'd be hoping you wouldn't take this option as I'll be buying the 82!)

2/ Fulfill all orders with the Peli that you already have in stock, commencing immediately with slight price adjustments to cover the extra cost. That way nothing comes off stock but the DN GMT may be delayed.

Either way there are delays to new watch releases but you can start doing business again.

Well, I'd certainly wager that forum members wouldn't be too fussed about getting a box initially, so perhaps just look for a temporary fix, which will safely ship the most important part of the package - the watch.

    Thereafter, forward the official packaging.

Perhaps not an option with your 'public' customers, but I'd be happy to buy from you on that basis, as would a whole lot more.

How about soemthing like this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crumpler-Cam...ver+-+CC55-001

I picked up a couple of these a few weeks back after someone mentioned them on here.

No idea if you'd be able to source the number you'd need of course.

he wants to do it right and that's the way to go.

if he sends the watch and then the box its twice the work and twice the postage

sending a watch as nice as this in a jiffy bag seems a strange idea to me when everyone bangs on about how important box and papers are?
