I wasn't lucky about to get a Dreadnaught, I did however manage a Dreadnought so I'll have to make do with that. #156 will be staying with me.
What better way (as the hour of the DN-GMT hoves into view over yon horizon) to commemorate my 500, than to ask you what highlights and lowlights, thoughts and feelings you have of the Original Dreadnought? (oh dear my eyesight eh? naught what it should be and eeek! can't correct the thread sp, oh my oh my it could get messy)
What experiences have you had with them? and what pictures have you that you can share of your time spent with these rare and rarely seen denizens of the deep and the locked drawer? did you have one, sell one and regret it? do you still posees the mystical beast and keep it in a secure vault, or let it loose in the world?
What do you feel is the significance of the Mighty DN to Time Factors and its impact in the watchy world? and what of its impact on the legend that is the doughty Mr. P
There, someone might feel inclined to get their teeth into a bit of that or ignore it safely from a distance.

It's not my style of watch, but I've followed the GMT's gestation with great interest. I sincerely hope that the long term members here, who have had so much input towards this watch, are successful in obtaining one. A Dreadnought that is........

I missed the Dreadnought by several years.
So I got myself a special number #13 PRS-LE orange instead.
It's going to be hard to resist the new DN-2 GMT.
Luckily for me, I'm not ready to buy at the moment.
I still need to reveal the PRS20 full lume I have hidden away for my Birthday next week.
And I have a hankering for a £400 telescope upgrade.
However - hanging ariound too long, or waiting for a second hand one might be a big big mistake.
Can we just confirm the Dreadnought GMT a Ltd Number like the first one itll be a regularly available piece?

I had one of the first two Dreadnoughts delivered on day one (Ming Thien got the other) and I can remember the huge excitement I felt on opening the beautifully sealed package.
Stupidly, I swapped it to a forum member, who still has it, I believe.
I have since bought another at a much higher price than the original. I know I should have kept my original, but being a serial flipper, the urge just became too much. Lesson learned (mebbe).
I haven't put in any sort of bid for a specific GMT, I'll probably regret it.
Eddie,
I don't know enough about movements to answer that :-)
I am assuming that there are other movements which can replace the ETA. The question is whether these are reliable, available and financially practical.
I can't admit to being a long term fan of the GMT, as I only discovered and joined the forum jan this year. But from what I have seen of the pictures and designs I really like and will definitely be joining the rush to try and get one!
Quite possibly a ridiculous suggestion, but how about the Mitoya in the PRS68? I'm not sure how the GMT mechanism works, so that might not work.
I'm sure Eddie's considered all the options here though and selected that movement, limited availability and all, for a reason.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
The hour can't be drawing too nigh, because someone else just posted that Eddie, et cie are going on holiday for a couple of weeks!
Regards,
Jeff.
Obfuscate and redirect. Love it! Hope you're right, toezapper (I'm sure there's acatchphrase similar to that that captures the spirit better, but I can't think of it)!
unfortunately I am not sure who made it, I got it from a TZ forum member and have not kept a record of whom it was or where they originally bought it Sorry the buckle i got from

I have no idea, either, exactly who made this particular strap, because I think many custom makers are putting out this style. However, one clue is that the leather appears, especially considering the button hole in the keeper, to be from high quality Swiss or Swedish, etc., military surplus accouterments and such, and I know that some custom strap makers specialize in using this often vegetable tanned and genuinely antiqued leather for their hand made creations

While we while away the hours until the Dreadnought GMT draws near....
As someone who never wears bracelets, how well do you think this watch will go on a NATO? To me it looks like it would go well, but it seems almost no-one wears the "old" Dreadnought on a NATO and I've always wondered why.
I've only ever found one picture on the net of one in that setup, it was a black Zulu - anyone have any pics of the old one on a NATO/Zulu to get a better idea?
^ I have no personal experience with the original DN or even any remembrance of seeing pictures of one on a NATO. However, I can't remember any decent looking diver I've either owned or seen pictures of that I didn't think looked about as good as it could on a black or "Desert Sand" colour NATO. Grey NATOs work for a lot or most too I think, and the old or common style Bond NATOs seem to work well for many divers also. I personally like fairly light khaki tan colour NATOs on divers quite a bit, but these show dirt more and can look a bit like hospital bandaging that might put off some owners.
The Dreadnought being as aesthetically excellent as it is and widely held to be, though, I can't imagine the original or the new GMT not looking great on a wide spectrum of NATOs

@ wildheart - Thank you sir, much appreciated. I believe the new DN GMT with its much thinner (<10mm if I remember correctly) profile will look even nicer on a NATO, not to mention on a GasGasBones... mmmm...

Gorgeous, well done! So for the 12 o'clock marker, minute hand, 24-hr hand... in the end are they all the same colour? Red, orange, red-orange? I remember some discussion before on this. Colours are always hard to interpret on computer screens.
Never owned a GMT diver before, the DN might be the first.
Can't wait to hear the price!
Fantastic - can't wait for this one.
I had an original DN, number 101, then I bought a spare. Now I have none. Now I've gone and looked and that itch just twitched all over again. What have I done...
