Welcome to the forum.
Thanks!
It was more where to buy, I know there is a sales section on here but I'm still working up to my 50 posts so any advise on where to look in the mean time
Depends if you want to buy new or second hand?
If you want to buy new then you can buy from an AD or somewhere like Iconic Watches who sell new watches that will likely come from an European AD. I have never used Iconic and can't comment on their service but is a name that crops up regularly here. If you buy new, you should be able to secure a discount of circa 15% if not a bit more dependent upon the exact model.
If you want to buy second hand, then there are a number of dealers who sell second hand watches. There is ebay but for a substantial purchase like a Speedmaster you need to be careful you buy a fake or a watch with problems. There are of course genuine sellers on ebay but it is best to be careful. I believe the requirement to see SC is 50 posts and having been a member for 6 months.
An omega would be a fine watch to start a collection.
Thanks, would be looking for a decent second hand as my budget is around £1500. As its a pretty big purchase I'd more than likely avoid eBay anyway.
My advice would be to research more than just the speedy, you may well stumble across something more interesting/suitable/expensive...
Hello and welcome!
Before continuing, please state your preference now - Rolex or Grand Seiko
;-p
actually, trust me - dont answer that!
Welcome!
Welcome ! Good luck in your search for a speedy

Whatever you are interested in, you are sure to find lots of friendly, well informed opinion here.
Don't discount eBay as an option. My Speedy Pro, Speedy Reduced and Speedsonic were all eBay purchases and I don't regret any of them. Research the item and the seller carefully and factor in servicing costs unless evidence exists of a recent service. A respectable seller shouldn't object if you aak some challenging questions ans demand good photos. If you're patient, there's still the prospect of a bargain on eBay.
I always wanted a Speedy, but was a little disappointed with the Reduced, which I bought first. For me, it turned out to be the Pro or nothing and the Reduced is with my watchmaker for some light fettling before going up for sale again. I know others who love the Reduced, so it's all about personal reactions. Have you had the chance to look at some models in the metal and try them on?

Hi Neil and welcome!
ebay is ok, but make sure you do your due diligence and remember the WIS motto - 'Buy the seller'...
Neil at Chronomaster is one of the good guys, he has a nearly new Speedy at what seems like a reasonable price:

Best of luck, ignore the occaisonal unpleasantness and enjoy your time here...

Thanks again for all the replies, much appreciated.
Welcome to TZ. Have you looked at a blue dial seamaster yet?
