    New Metal 'Twisted' G-Shocks

I guessed this had been posted before, but couldn't find it on search. If it has, please direct me..

Anyway, G-Shock have announced a c$1k range of metal MT-G's..
I think they'll do well.. in fact, not being that knowledgeable on G-Shocks, I'm surprised a metal variant hasn't been done before. (that I know of!)

Below is a pic of the steel version, there is also a black and a LE in black + gold + red.

So are the screws on the front functional? :P

Casio have done many metal G-Shocks, the MT-G range has been going since the late 90s (not all metal, a lot were metal-other materials hybrids). They've also had the MR-G range for a similar amount of time, however they were made in more limited quantities and far more expensive than an average G - an example being the MR-G 8100B http://forums.watchuseek.com/f105/mr...ds-408547.html but there is a decent back catalogue of MR-G's.

Yes, they go through from the front to the back and help secure the two halves together.

Here's a live shot I took at their 30th Anniversary Shock The World event here in NYC, if anyone's interested:

It's not a bad-looking watch, per se, but I wonder if this is really going to take off in the States and elsewhere, where G-Shock is still synonymous with affordable, plastic/rubber watches.

    Regards,
    Adam

MT-G models have been available over here for a while, just not at that price admittedly. It would be interesting if they tried their MR-G range too.

Specialist G-shocks are rarely seen in the usual stockists windows' though. These are cluttered with many similar looking Citizen watches; which for those shops are at the top of their watch price range.
Bet these are too big for the average wrist!

I bought this Gw3500 BD which comes on a decent heavy bracelet for £100 from Amazon. It's fantastic especially at that price but would I pay over £300 or £400 for a G shock? I don't think I could justify it as the cheaper ones are so good.

I would not buy this model for 1000$ (it will probably cost more in stores)...
If I wanted good metal G-Shock then I would spend some more and get MR-G 7600/7700.
Or try to find used 8000/8100 for affordable price.
