Thread: Best cool box

    Best cool box

Hi, I need to buy a new cool box, and I wondered if the TF which? team could help.

Rather than my current blue box which doesn't really try to keep stuff cool, I'd like one which does.

    Any recommendations?

    Ta!

    Hi

I bought a YETI cool box 2 weeks ago, and I think it's brilliant. I needed a standard (no requirement for power), done a bit of googling and found 2 potential brands YETI & Icey Tek.
I originally ordered the 25l Icey Tek, but the supplier had just run out and so offered me the 33l YETI. I am blown away by how well it works.

As you would expect is not small or light, but a small sacrifice for such an impressive cool box

I got mine from the only uk supplier I could find http://www.coolboxesuk.com/yeti-range/

    I hope it helps

By the way it's apparently Grizzly Bear proof

If it's a non-electrical coolbox, I can highly recommend the icey-tek models. I got one from HERE. If it's an electrical one you're after, a lot of people swear by the ones you get in Lidl/Aldi but obviously they're not available all the time and the camping stock has probably been and gone. My icey-tek can keep things cold for days if the food starts off as cold in the first place.

    I bought one of these...

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coleman-Xtre.../dp/B0030BGA0A

A couple of weeks ago whilst we had the hot spell. On a 4 day camping trip, the stuff we had put in there frozen, was still frozen 3 days later and only defrosted when we wanted it to...ie moved it to the top of the box away from the ice packs.

Highly recommended and a little cheaper than the others mentioned on here...although they all look excellent too

How to insult the TZ massive in one easy step.......looks like you may've got away with it.

I so nearly did - although I still think of this as Timefactors, which does indeed seem to have an F in it..!

Looks like Coleman Extreme is the recommendation, so I'll go see if I can find one..

Check out the Dometic and WAECO stuff, as well as Igloo.
Plenty of powered and unpowered options.

Also quite liked the Nomad ones – http://www.coolicebox.com/ – after seeing a couple on eBay going relatively cheap to their retail price.
Not sure if the WAECO ones there haven't made the Nomad all but redundant.
