So its definitely a 401? I knew it wasnt a 009, but couldnt identify exactly what model.
Where are these sourced? Are they JDM?
There's a new film just around the corner: All Is Lost with Robert Redford. He's (prominently) wearing a Seiko SKX401 on a nato. These 401s are hard to find. After people realise what Redford's wearing in the movie, prices will be up, I'm sure.
Redford often wears nice watches in his movies: e.g. 3 Days Of The Condor: a Doxa Sharkhunter.
btw, All Is Lost is highly praised by critics and when there's sailing involved I'm easily convinced.

Yes, JDM I believe..
I have one of these, well it's the 399K which is the same but with a black bezel, the 401 has the pepsi bezel insert.
Here is a write up...

afaik the 399 and 401 were sold in the Philippines only... i remember a discussion on the scwf some years ago and the very good write-up above confirms it somewhere...
Ah, i still need one of these. My favourite Seiko diver dial.
Forgot you had one Stewart, send it this way!
They seem like hens' teeth anyway! :-)
Just the slightly different dial?
no, scuse me,
who is ever going to watch a robert redford movie?!
like... my aunt.
big watch fan she is
Interesting to read about a Seiko I was not aware of.
I'm not sure how much of an influence on values the film will have, though I doubt Omega would pay quite so much to place their products on James Bond's wrist for no good reason.
I have looked and looked and cant really see the difference between 009 and this 401.... Anyone care to point them out?
