    Hedgehogs... that brings back memories!

When I was a young lad, my parents had this monstrously big Rottweiler. The village' softest dog. There was a meadow across the street with some low shrubs at the edge of the land. A 100m long stretch of perfect hedgehog territory. Every now and then our dog took home a hedgehog after the evening walk before going to sleep! We were (and I still am) puzzled how he did this: taking the spiky ball in his mouth and softly, gently dropping it on the tiles in the kitchen...

We had some funny moments chasing a hedgehog in the kitchen, with a dog going wild because WE were playing with his new best friend and HE wasn't invited!

After catching the hedgehog, we always put it back under the shrubs. In that pre-internet era, I didn't know that it's best to put a hedgehog back exactly where you found it and not somewhere else. Hedgehogs can get lost!

It's amazing how soft (or hard) a dog's mouth can be. Our Springer has picked up the odd hedgehog in our garden. No harm was ever done to him or the hedgehogs.

    Blimey.

Dot won't go out even in a light drizzle.

BT's don't like the wet, or much exercise.

    Perfect dog for me.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

We have two cockers and two labs. The newest arrival, Sam our first yellow lab, is learning fast.

Here he is in collective pre-wash mode.

So yesterday we collected the animal variety number 11 in our house.
I may be a bit biased as this ones mine and our first K9 as a family after having dogs before we had kids.

He really is a sweetie. He loves all humans, and is well socialised to get along with most dogs, the exception being whole male dogs who challenge his top dog status. At 3 yo now he even tends to come back when you call him... unless there is something that resemble a quarry, which he invariably fails to catch anyway but loves to chase

Do you have more pics of Mimi? This 'box-pic' doesn't do her justice, I think!

George is a bu&&er for water.Any excuse and he's in. Staring at the water, I knew he was up to something. I thought he was going to do his usual trick of "accidentally" falling in but saw the fish rise on the right and jumps from a standing start.

Most terrierists can be devils if the prospect of small furries is suspected.

My little terrier, proper little character!

Loves a squirrel, fox or mole!

Pointing to a squirrel in this pic actually.

And has various dens dug out under bushes in the garden where she likes to base bird chases from!
