Buying an ipad in the USA

    Hi

We are off to the states in 10 days and i'm looking at getting an ipad over there. Latest version, wifi only, no phone connection.
Are there any downsides/issues with buying in the states from a technical point of view?

not any that I see other than the power plug, and given that they use a usb plug that is not really an issue. They sell them everywhere, wal mart, best buy, target. I just got my wife one of the mini's, and she loves it.

Any chance you are coming to Denver?

I've done it with no problems. Might be worth ditching the box to sneak it through customs if your bringing much else back though.

If you intend on using the US iTunes (you may need to, I did but can't remember if it was obligatory), then buy a few iTunes gift cards in USD. A UK issued credit card won't work on the US iTunes.

I bought my iPad in the US, and other than the above (and the power), all is good...

Got my mini in Chicago and no issues. Registered with UK iTunes via my Apple id.

Charging cable can be used with most USB plugs.

Plus no issues coming back through customs

I did it two years ago with an iPad and no issues either. Waited until I got back to the UK and registered with UK iTunes without a problem. Similar to others I bought a new plug! Good luck

Is there much of a price difference?
I might be tempted to get one to replace my original version.

In short yes I guess around 20-30% difference
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...US-stores.html

In an effort to explain the price difference between America and Britain, Apple pointed to the fact that there are different, and higher, taxes in Europe, as well as higher transport and other costs

same old same old we always get ripped off for more

same question here and loads of info
