I claim the title of supreme expat ... I am an expatriate of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem in the 12th century. :P

Obviously I did not become a WIS before the mechanical clock was invented.

Off to get my coat ...
    Cheers,

    Martin ("Crusader")

Hi on a trip, so perhaps appropriate timing!-picked up my first, what I would call serious watch, abroad.

Maybe that's where time-travel is good  :) and a tardis for escape even more helpful :D

Nice pics. Very nice pic of you and your wife-congratulations :)

Perhaps soon I shall be travelling after a 'seagull'!

    Best wishes,
    AP :)

It was April 15, 2005 when I made my first post on the BMW forum (well worth a read ). After that, I decided to gain some WISdom as fast as possible!

BTW, I heard about Jeddah when I served at RAF Muharraq (Bahrein) in the 60's. Back then, it was just holes in the desert with prisoners and steel bars on top.

    cheers,

I'm on a C-130 down to Taif next week,so a week-end in Jidda is on the cards. Do you know any good pubs?
    Regards, Jon.

I turned 51 a couple of weeks ago, and I've spend 24 of them out of the USA. But, I still have apple pie coursing through my veins. ;)

I became a WIS to keep me off the streets and out of trouble.

    Best wishes,
    bob

I only really became a WIS after leaving the UK. I've been teaching in Qatar for 6 1/2 years now, and after my first year, I treated myself to an Omega Speedmaster, the reduced, automatic one. (I compared this to the Moonwatch in the shop, and remember asking myself - 'Why would people pay 50% more for a watch that you've got to wind yourself?!' :) Young naive fool that I was!)

Bought it cash, with a discount, got VAT off at Heathrow, and when I came to sell it, two years late, I made a profit of £6. That got me thinking?

    :)
