The BBC has hardly promoted this at all. I saw an ad on TV last night for it which simply said 'coming soon'.

Trailer after the end of the F1 coverage this afternoon - reminded me I'd seen mention of it being back on.
Looks like the typical 3 amigos stooges antics, and The Stig dumped in a skip.
What Sunday nights were made for!

No crapper or better than usual. The standard fare for at least the last five years.

More importantly though, what were they wearing?
My flimsy 'iplayer through a proxy' wasn't the ideal medium but I saw JC was wearing a round, black, PVD (ceramic?) chrono with nice lume. Couldn't ID it better than that. Anyone else got any ideas?

IWC 3789-01 Pilot's Chronograph Top Gun. Don't think it's the larger Doppel Chrono as it does not appear to have the pusher at 10 o clock.

Is Brian Johnson shorter than Richard Hammond?

Not the best episode ever but still quite entertaining.

No sign of wall-to-wall Belstaff (yet).

Someone on twitter asked him what watch he was wearing these days and he posted this:

I don't care that the programme has become a parody of itself and that the trio often engage in banal banter. There is little on the television these days that makes me chuckle or gasp as much as Top Gear, even though I am sometimes chuckling at just how much one of them has shown himself to be a buffoon or have gasped at yet another politically incorrect statement.

The highlight of last nights show has to be Rachel Riley, without a doubt. She even managed to upstage Clarkson's new IWC.

  32. #32
Another reminder to admirers of the lovely Rachel that she's on the Gadget Show this evening at 8pm. Channel 5.

Perhaps we need a new thread, dedicated to Ms Riley. Boys' Room. Probably best.

The segments with James on that boat made me laugh. Especially when he kept taking the full force of the ocean in his face!

    I enjoyed it.

  34. #34
Top Gear is one of those shows I don't bother watching live anymore....too much crap to endure to get to the decent bits. I record it and watch it in less than half the time. I shall watch the Rachel Riley segment at half sped though!! :)

Agree, I just want to get to the parts of the show where they drive and test cars. I don't really care for the challenges.

I hope there's a proper challenge, or some other good reason, for them having filmed in New Zealand. Otherwise I shall be summoning Seamaster73 to demand the abolition of the Licence Fee.

I've seen the episode and was quite pleased with it.

Well, maybe the rented car thing was kind of exaggerated (with all the crashes and everything) but, generally speaking, it was an interesting episode.
Can't wait for the next one (and for Fifth Gear to start too :D ).

I hope that it was done while they were there during the recent "Top Gear Live" tour. Look upon it as the BBC fleecing foreigners and using the money to subsidise the licence fee. Doesn't seem so bad, does it?

The first two episodes were pretty poor IMHO but Sunday's was a bit of a return to form. I guess with a 458, McLaren and R8 and a deserted airport to play around in, they'd do well to stuff it up!

Sundays episode was good watching but it did look like Spain had been attacked by zombies.

Even if it was edited it to make it look worse than it really is, it was jaw dropping. I can't help wondering who paid for all that.

Never mind that, did anybody else clock the blonde behind Clarkson (the one with the sunglasses on her head) during the SIARPC?

I note TG is the world's most watched factual programme. The Beeb has just bought it back. Clarkson gets around 30 mill as a shareholder.
