I know nothing other than the obvious 18k Patek pocket watch,
but holy mother of god, that is a lovely watch, and it has papers, ohh my god I am going to wet myself.
I found a little box. Curious as to what was in the box, I quickly opened it.
Out came this and my heart skipped a few beats. I am not a vintage connaisseur, don't know anything about pocket watches...so could anyone tell me more about this?? Any information is much appreciated!

I know nothing of pocket watches either, but just has to join in on the praise. What an incredibly beautiful watch, and not to mention ridiculously incredible find!
Brilliant, if you find out anymore from a specialist pls keep us in the loop.
Superb find
That's quite a find.. I'm going to guess as it's PP it's going to be worth a bit!

and no I am not serious, I don't nearly have enough cash to buy this peice
What an absolutely amazing find, surely every watch enthusiasts dream!
I can't help with any specific information but if I were you I'd get in touch directly with the Patek Philippe Museum. Here's their email address: info@patekmuseum.com and address and phone number Patek Philippe Museum, Rue des Vieux-Grenadiers 7, CH-1205 Geneva. Telephone +41 (0)22 807 09 10.
Hope that helps and all the best finding out more about your fantastic find.
Cheers,
Gary
Totes amazeballs
Got to be worth 5 figures?
Wow, quite a find indeed. Do the hands a subtle blue hue to them? Stunning.
mmmm, I think more 4 to 8k depending on how rare
EDIT: upon investigation I may be well off, this example looks very similar, being a minute repeater and the movement looks similar

Hmmm... A solid gold vintage Patek, with papers.
I don't think you should sell it for its gold value!!!!!!!!!
Mind you if you want to, I am game!!
Mitch
Wow sorry for your loss. 😢
But what a beautiful pocket watch to keep as a keepsake. I would also estimate it to be 4 to 7 grand in good old £.
But WOW love it. 👍
Simon
Looks very early too looking at the dial script, I imagine the museum might be interested.
edit, could it be a redial?
C.
Amazing find.
Always surprises me what can turn up in boxes stashed here and there.
Whatever its worth I would pay for a service and restoration from PP.
Holy smeg.. hit the motherload there.
I know little about PPs.. but the 'E. Gubelin', I'm sure I've seen that before, maybe on an old Heuer - I think it's an old upmarket Swiss or German retailer/jewellers.
Looks to date to around 1923 - 1925.
Mitch
E. Gubelin are a Swiss Watch and jewellery retailer based in Lucerne. They use(d) a range of companies to produce watches for them and use their brand on watches produce by other manufacturers, a bit like Sears, Abercrombie and Fitch etc, etc, but Swiss not American. Link to their site.

Speechless and crying congrats
Patek Philippe appear still to have some link to the address on your watch's papers (link), although Grand-Quai seems to have been renamed Général-Guisan-Quai (presumably, after Henri Guisan). The Café Grand-Quai is at #34 Général-Guisan-Quai .
Patek Philippe's main site seems to be here (link):

That's a beautiful watch, by the way.
Thanks all! I think I will try an email to Patek, see what they say.
I'm not emotionally attached to my grandfather, it wasn't a really pleasant fellow....so I think I will restore this and then cash out (hopefully :)).
Any advice on where to do this?
That's an incredible find, beautiful, reminds me (apologies) of 'Only Fools and Horses', in a good way!
sorry ...but is thread for real...happy to be proved wrong but the OP has been a Member for a while and a PP appears.
Apologies in advance as fire suit is put on
Very sorry to hear about your loss.
I would strongly advise seeking advice from a probate lawyer.
If there is a will, you may or may not be a beneficiary - or you may possibly be one of a class of beneficiaries.
If there is no will, there is a specific "qualifying" order for inheritance, starting with his own children, then his siblings etc etc.
If it isn't mentioned specifically, in the will, of if there isn't a will - then it will form part of the assets of the estate.
The trouble with assuming speculative ownership, in certain circumstances, is that unless the executor (or appointed administrator) settles the property on you, taking possession with a view to keeping something for yourself, can ammount to theft (from the estate) - and can have very serious reprucussions down the line.
If there are no other living relatives, and no will either, then you can apply to the probate court to be appointed as administrator - although you might choose to do all this through a solicitor.
Fingers crossed for you - that is a beautiful watch and must be worth a fortune.
Sweet baby jesus. Impressive find. What do think you will do with it?
Amazing find! Bet its worth a pretty penny :). Good luck
Well done, what a I find. This thread has made my day. Congratulations on a fantastic find.
I am no expert but that thing is gorgeous. It isn't a minute repeater, but nevertheless, must be worth close to if not 5 figures.
My advice, don't touch it, don't restore it, don't service it. Keep it as it is. If you want to sell it, ask an advice from Christies or other similar auction houses.
PS, the paper might not be from that watch or perhaps I see the numbers incorrectly. In any case ask for a archive extract from Patek.
Wow, very beautiful find SuperC. If it wasn't under such unfortunate circumstances i'd advice you to start celebrating. Your Grandfather did a good job keeping it in fine condition with papers. Enjoy yourself researching it. Keep the forum updated.
:-O
Good luck with it and make sure you invest in a good safe :-)

As the American gentleman recommends in the second video: "don't drop it".
I know nothing about PP pocket watches and I may be misreading the papers, but a) how do you tally the case / movement to the watch number without PP's help (see Gary's suggestion) and b) why are the papers dated 188- (and undated), especially with a watch that looks to date post-1901.
A very nice find indeed. Don't get too carried away just yet though, the hour hand is bent and has been dragging on the dial which has marked it, the dial has a little spotting and the papers don't appear to be for the watch pictured as the serial numbers differ.
Still a great find and I wouldn't say no to it!
I´ve got exactly the same Cal. Patek, whatever you do, don´t send the watch to Patek, it´ll cost you an arm and leg to have it revised!
The certificate you also show, doesn´t belong to that particular watch though...
Here´s a (rough) translation of Pateks reply to me;

I appreciate that people are only trying to offer the OP some friendly advice; which I've no doubt is appreciated, but I don't believe s/he has mentioned his or her position as far as being a beneficiary is concerned and if you look at SuperC's profile you'll notice the location is in The Netherlands, perhaps they do things differently there?
