PS Welcome to the forum and great choice!
Hello Eddie and all,
I am eagerly awaiting the return of the Speedbird 3 so that I can get my grubby mitts on one. I understand that it's going to have a higher grade movement, could you tell me what this is going to be? Thanks.

Hi Rocket Man and welcome here. Dowsing is right, if you like the SpeedBird III PRS-22, you hit it just right --- this new batch on the way having the top chronometer grade ETA 2824 movement should be the very best yet. I don't think they'll have the COSC certificate but that would be a lot of extra cost and wouldn't make the movement any more accurate --- ETA's quality control managers make sure the movement is accurate and the COSC at best just independently verifies that.
Will the GMT version have the upgraded movement too (albeit with GMT module)?
Any info as to how many SB3s will be made with the top movement ?
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Hello Eddie
I was wondering if the price shown currently on the website for the Speedbird III and the GMT (£350 and £415 respectively) were still correct for when they both come back into stock, and whether you were accepting pre-orders?
Thanks
Dan
I am pretty sure Eddie never does pre-orders and from what I've read, I think the price will increase at least for the Speedbird III. If the GMT has an upgraded movement too then I'd also expect that to go up in price.
Thanks for the update Eddie. Cant wait till they arrive and finding out the new price!!!!. Only trouble is deciding between PRS 22 or PRS22 GMT ?????
If my PRS22 wasn't so accurate I'd sell it and buy one of these newer ones. Not because it is any better but just so I can feel superior to those without one. Just like those that bought one of the first 50 seem to think.
Now not being 'smart' but what rationale for buying this over regular Speedbird,as may well do if makes sense.
I really do like the Speedbird III and stupidly flipped it twice but what the DN GMT iminent,i have held off buying some real bargains on SC oh and buying more headphones to flip on SC as some real wag pointed out.
Hello again, I am now finding myself looking at pictures of the GMT and wondering whether that might be the better choice. Any advice as to which one to go for?
Personally I'm planning to go for the standard model; I don't need the GMT functionality, and I prefer the III's sterile dial. Not that the GMT isn't a looker, mind...
I've got the Speedbird III and GMT, and they're really quite different pieces. Both great in their own ways.
Any indication when these are going to be available once again?
I really want a Speedbird as my 'wedding watch' and that's rapidly approaching at the start of September...
Supposed to be the middle of this month.

Are we still waiting for these? I'm hoping they didn't all sell out again while I was on holiday and had limited internet access.
Not listed as in stock yet.
Any news of these? I was hoping they'd be available today... :(
EDIT:
Jeez... I've been checking the Speedbird page every 30 minutes or so... my productivity at work has dipped somewhat I despair in my lack of self-control!

Oh well... fingers crossed for tomorrow :)
Last week's email did say the Speedbirds would be back in stock this week...
I'm also waiting for them to become available, depending on how much the price has risen.
I really wouldn't be surprised if they're held back until next week though if eddie is still being deluged with orders for the smiths diver and bronze.
I've been waiting for quite a while. A little more patience isn't going to hurt I guess..
At the moment these are the 5 most important words I have read in a long time
"....their arrival really is imminent"
One will look for one's brown paper bag and smelling salts as I fear hyperventilation may strike or have an attack of the vapours, or I just might have a little faint
Roland was fitting the bracelets when I spoke with him yesterday and he's shipping the first 50 on Monday.

I'm hopefully going to pick one up when they appear back on the site. I've been looking for my first quality watch for a few months and had considered a few models, including the Stowa and Steinhart pilot watches. Then I read a few reviews of the Speedbird III and was impressed with the almost universal praise. A few weeks back I picked up a secondhand PRS-3. The quality of that piece has convinced me even more that the Speedbird is the right watch.
Not yet then.
Looking forward with eager anticipation having had one of the originals.
Well it is not a 09.00 release then!
(I suspect Eddie does like the 'tease')
