Here's my Super Ocean. Worn it almost every day since I got it in 2001. Appreciate the dial colour won't be to everyone's taste but I love it

There is a guide among the sticky threads on this forum: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...sting-pictures
Still have my Skyland and I do appreciate it.
A friend of mine handed me a 1953 Datora triple calendar today, just to do a spot of research on.
I'll ask his permission to post a few snaps of it - beautiful watch!
What do you think of the new Galactic 44? I have seen lots of praise over the other forums, but I'm not diggin' it. Somehow this type of day/date is too Rolex-y for my taste. Also the faux vintage lume is somewhat of a turn-off for me. Overall I think this a step in the right direction, that is to say towards the good ole' Breitling from the 90's and 00's.

Like it or not (a bit too modern for me, which says more about me than the watch!) you have to admire the fantastic standard of the watchcase. Good photo.
I usually know the day anyway, so I'm not a fan of any kind of day/date. No matter how classic Breitling this type might be, It still makes me think about Rolex, so not my cup of tea. I can see why people like it, but I can't force myself to do it.
The pic is from official B. website. Most likely more skillful use of a computer than a camera.

Oh well, I'll just keep picking on watches my own age.
Well, I did say it was a step in the right direction. I'm really looking forward to other new arrivals in the Galactic line. Also this isn't bad enough to warrant a Breitling bashing thread. Just wanted to see if I'm alone in not loving this, as everyone else seems to be pi**ing honey over it.
I must admit, I have always strongly disliked the rounded crown that Breitling uses on this watch, and others. I prefer a chunky more "square" crown such as is seen on the SuperOcean or Avenger ranges.
"in the flesh" the "vintage" lume does look good, and they seem to be going more and more for this look dont they?
They also have a real push in the "blacksteel" direction, which it fun but not £5-6k fun.
I must admit I have a hankering for a new Breitling, and last week I looked at many models at Waltons in Chester - loads of mad stuff, but the prices are just getting to that level where you cant just play around anymore (well, at least I cant).
Too Rolex-y for me, too. I really like the new Colt superquartz.
I love just about everything about this one...except for the stupid size (wish it was 40-41mm) and no doubt the equally stupid price (stupid cus I can't afford it)
It's got the classic bezel font rather than the over sized/modern/stylised font of the more recent offerings such as Galactic etc.
The bezel is brushed thus bringing the watch down on the radar a little and reducing the "blingy ness".
I like it but it's just too big.
I generally alternate between these two day to day.
(Pic taken when I was convincing the missus this was a good way to work to west coast US time and UK time on holiday)
Now that's pretty!
I almost flipped my SMPc for a 2013 41mm black dialled Galactic on black calf but decided it was too shiny mainly because the bezel was fully polished and the bezel font too large and "funky".
If it had the brushed bezel top and standard non funky font I would have gone for it.
Shame as otherwise I really liked it.
Cheers Cap'n. Your Chronomat epitomizes what I meant, when I said the good ole' Breitling bit. That's just gorgeous!
There's no problem if the polished finish is not to your liking, there's quite a few people on here who could easily de-bling the watch to a very high standard. The Chronomat is readily available from Chron24 and sizes are from 39-40.5mm, mine is the Chronomat GT which is 40.5mm.
My Breitling Windrider Chronomat on a Watch Obsession Breitling spec croc – the watch that began the madness

this looks rather tasty

Wow, that's lovely.
This my first Breitling, a Superocean 42, and I am sure it won't be my last! Took delivery today so have been wearing it with pride. Loving the depth of the dial thanks to the AR coating. The electronic warranty card is pretty bonkers stuff from the future!
warning: yellow content
double warning: hair arm content
i really like those, i tried a mates one on a while back, his was the blue version. i sometimes think the breitlings with a solid yellow dial are a bit too loud but i like the way the colour is added in these and then the rubber filled bezel makes a nice contrast with the polished case.
This is a funny watch. When I first saw it, I just hated it. After a while I sort of liked it and then out of the blue I had to have it.
I love the dial and hands and the lume is unbeatable. You are certainly right about the depth of the dial. Sadly I had to sell mine, as it didn't sit right on my wrist for some reason. Huge congrats, and my late SO says hi!
Well I need a watch to know the time.
I can easily lose track of the date so thats useful.
Time in another part of the world could be helpful and might avoid embarrasment.
Phase of the moon - not so useful but a great talking point down the pub.
Don't know what day it is? I'm drunk in a gutter and past caring (and in all probability some b*****d has knicked my watch)
Overall style has something going for it but the details are disappointing - apart from the over prominent day I agree the lume doesn't look right.
I'm a big fan of the Aerospace (probably the only Quartz I'd enjoy along with the Tag aquaracer chrono digi). I tried the new evo version last week. Watches of Switzerland were so keen to push a sale that they knocked £600 off the rrp straight away, then added a very good (too good in fact) price for a trade in. The mark up on these things must be huge!!!
Relatively new incoming...always a yellow fan!!
