Thread: speedbird with oyster bracelet, can it be done?

  1. #1

speedbird with oyster bracelet, can it be done?

    yes, precisely,
for an explorer kind of style, can the speedbird be fitted with the oyster bracelet, like with the royal navy diver?

    anyone tried that?

also, should I want to change the dial with a yao,
what size dial am I looking at?

    thanks,
I really am restless on making my own explorer style watch...

Speedbird is a 32mm dial, I believe. Yao's site lists those dial sizes as compatible.

I'm just guessing, but that looks like the bracelet from a Zeno Explorer to me.

Don't think so unless the endpieces have been ground down, the Explorer is 20mm and the Speedbird 18mm. The Zeno Phantom is 18mm though.

    Doh!

As I have a Speedbird II and have had 3 of the Explorers, I really should have thought of that...

Wow, impressive that the lug-pieces fit the case so well from that pic!

They were probably 19mm and filed down.

That proves once more that, with a Dremel, there's an Oyster to virtually every watch available.

I've worked on several (Seiko) watchbands with a Dremel in order to fit them as aftermarket replacement on old 6309's, 6138's and 6139's. Especially my dad's watches, since he has a way to wreck bands in some years.

The watches remain - amazingly - quite well, no deep nuts etc., just superficial scratching...
