Thread: Best value Submariner homage

I love the Christopher Ward C60 Trident. I've had my eyes on one for a while. I've just seen there is a COSC limited edition - and it's pay day.... haha

personally i think that the std version (maybe after £30ish of regulation work) will run just as good and is a lot cheaper

Surely nothing wrong with a Parnis Submariner?

Doesn't cost the world, either (140,- euro)

    Another vote for Marcello C.

Okay. Maybe that's more than one vote. Not as much of an homage as other suggestions, but in terms of value it is really tough to beat.

Yep. My vote to O & W. And those are Swiss Made, if that counts.
I currently own 3 pcs and if compared to price (=pre owned around 100 EUR) those are best quality watches I have ever seen.

From a price and resale POV, there is only one - Tudor 76100 or 79090

These were sold on eBay a couple of years ago. I understand they were given away free (possibly with certain purchases) by Bosch to dealers or distributors to celebrate a company anniversary.

No it doesn't. The thread is called "Best value Submariner homage", not "Best value ROLEX Submariner homage". Please read careful before you get smart.

I have had a couple of Steinhart Ocean One watches but while they were well made, good looking watches the lug to lug width was too long for my wrist. The watch is 42mm with the same flat lugs as the 40mm Sub.

At 40mm I have a couple of Seapros that use the Miyota movement that are very good value.

    And in black

I'm not sure why you're being so aggressive, maybe its your time of the month - or something - however the point that i was making is simple.

Good value can manifested itself in many ways, one way is a cheap watch that costs £20, last for about a year of two, and then goes in the bin. The other way to look at good value is that you invest an amount of money in something that will appreciate in value and give you an asset on which value can be re-imbursed.

A Tudor 79090 or 76100 can be had for £1200(ish) if you look around, so you invest £1200 now, and sell it in two years for £1500 (approx). Why is that not good value.

    Has anyone mentioned these yet?

It's not at true diver but many of us don't get our watches wet anyway... has the looks, it's smaller than a Steinhart and it's an Orient, so good movement assured.

Of course that is good value, its just not a homage IMHO.

Well, actually the Tudor is a good exercise in this always difficult to settle question of what an homage is... I also think it's a model on it's own and not an homage but it's something that gained character over time. I think one can accept that it was initially meant as a "poor men's" Sub and Rolex had that goal in mind. If it had round markers and mercedes hands, it would be very, very close to a Sub.

Thanks for all the great comments. I think steinhart's are going to be a tad to big for me so edging towards an O&W anyone got any more info on them. I have found a nice one I'm very interested in.

Just taken the plunge and my new addition to the family is on its way. A nice O&W M4. Hopefully won't take to long to arrive from over the States.

Received a Davosa Ternos today, thank you Vinny, at 10:25 when I set it by a radio controlled Casio Protrek, it's currently still spot on.

The quality is as good as any homage watch I've seen .

I have sent them an email, the reply mentioned they expected this in the spring of last year, so far nothing.
