it depends on your level but you can pick up a used Steinhart Ocean One for £200 or less and they are a fantastic watch at the price!

marchingontogether!
Yep, Steinhart all the way.
At 42mm its a better size than the Rolex too.
the davosa ternos is higher quality watch and a more authentic homage than the Steinhart - with a FAR better cyclops, but it costs more new, but second hand there's very little in the re-sale value

I'm just a very naughty boy.
Good deals with- VINSTINK, kevkojak, Optimum, Omegary, seikoking, acg, SPEEDY, kfman, Card Shark, wajhart, Jot, danboy, zenomega, gaz64, minke, Mal52, Alas, norfolkngood, Sparky, rdwiow, mrteatime, gravedodger, joeytheghost, lordoftheflies, Silver Hawk, Filterlab, brooksy, marmisto, Fray Bentos, Bootsy, Harvey69, Mantisgb, bristolboozer, Jedadiah, newtohorology, Zephod, jimm1, Draygo, Raptor.
I may have forgot one or two, apppologies.
Another vote for the Marcello C Nettuno. Great watch!
Also check out Glycine Combat Sub series. Not extremely cheap though, but second hand can be found for good prices...

Scoobydoo knows where there's a nice DSSD for sale.
Sorry about that just had to be done.
I wouldn't put the Glycine Combat sub in the homage bracket. It's a lovely watch, I have one myself, but it really doesn't bear any resemblance to the typical vintage subs.
Or am I being thick again?

If your budget is around £10, how about a Soki? I bought one just to see what kind of automatic watch you could get brand new for a tenner. Answer: a crap one. My favourite bit was how the hour and second hands had lume but not the minute hand. But hey, £10!
That automatic movement crafted by Chinese artisans in all it's glory (sans gasket):
Grovana are worth a look too, again 42mm with 22mm lugs and a decent bracelet.
And after a couple of years on my son's wrist at uni...
in the steinhart camp, althought the squale atmos seems to be loved at WUS
Combat Subs are not just copies without Rolex logos, but resemblance to Rolex is obvious...

Fortunately they have changed few details while keeping general Rolex look, so Glycine Subs look better to me than usual Rolex homage watches. With wearing 100% homage (copy) of Rolex (except logo) I would not feel much better than wearing replica.
Jarvis, Steinhart and Glycine are excellent choices. As are some of the Helson pieces. I would also suggest you have a look at Christopher Wards Trident. There isn't much love for CWL pieces over here but come and join in the discussion at the CW forum to get an idea of how the Trident is received.
Another alternative I wished I knew about sooner is Eddies PRS50 which I have seen looking lovely on mesh and strap. Not a submariner homage but still worth looking at.
Have a look at the Marcello c range ,great quality
Not exactly a "homage" but close enough to have the look. At less than £40 a bargain and with the legendary M&S quality and returns policy!

I have one and often wear it if I am doing stuff I would rather not wear my 5513 for.
Looking at the watch reviews I just loved this one from a reviewer tagged "LadyPenelope"
"The watch seemed well made and good quality and lived up to the photograph in the recent Christmas catalogue. It was dissappointing that you couldn't adjust the strap yourself although returning it for adjustment by post was free of charge it did mean that you were without the watch for over a week."

I would probably get a Marcello C Nettuno 3 first and then perhaps a Steinhart as a second choice. From what I have read, the Marcello is punching well above it's weight and doesn't look like all the companies who appear to have very similar cases and bracelets.
The Steinhart is a very good shout... though if you see a Kemmner 007 up for sale 2nd hand then I think that wins.
That'll be the Steinhart OVM then.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359290018.190915.jpg

Another vote for Marcello C.
Okay. Maybe that's more than one vote. Not as much of an homage as other suggestions, but in terms of value it is really tough to beat.
