Thread: Best watch to buy for circa £3000

  1. #51
    Hi There,
I have an Omega ProPlof on Mesh, purchased last July and virtually unworn (max 2 weeks) with absolutely no swirls / scratches etc, and would easily pass any inspection as a new watch, comes with 4 year warranty.

I will be advertising on here in near future for around £4k but would accept slightly less for a quick sale.

    Please PM if interested.

Alternatively £3k gets you some lovely vintage Heuer / Omega's
Now that is very nice and goes straight on the list

That would also be my choice, a mint 2254.50 and a Speedmaster 3570.50. You could always but the Speedy on a strap if you wanted a different look.

As many have mentioned you can't go wrong with a sub plus can be easily flipped for what you paid for it if you don't get on with it - though I'd split the budget and get two watches.

Avoid a Rolex, it just makes you look like you bought a "good watch" to celebrate a promotion in to middle management :)

Joking aside, if you want to be safe and look the same as everyone else get a Rolex or an Omega. Otherwise head to http://www.chrono24.com and in the advanced search look for watches in your price range. You can just put in £2900-3100 and search (without a brand) and you'll see hundreds of watches that may fit the bill.

Enjoy the research, it's far more interesting than the watch you'll end up buying...

I'd go for a brand new speedy 3570, or a sub- you'll get them both eventually :)

This is so true! At the company I work at, the most common watch worn by our Sales Managers is a Rolex? With the Sales People, it's Omega...

Going by your post count (99) I'd estimate it'll be at least 2016 before you are allowed to sell on here...

But getting back to the OP and the best watch for £3k, I'd probably go with the best Sub ND or maybe a white Explorer II within budget. As long as you avoid buying a lemon it will probably be the lowest risk investment you could make. But personally, what I'd really buy if I had that amount to spend would be a nice vintage Heuer Autavia 11630MH, have it serviced if required, buy a few nice straps and enjoy the change...

It'd be a ND Sub too if the budget was 3k.

Personally I'd keep saving till I had enough to get a Sea Dweller

I personally would look at a non date sub or an explorer. Good solid investments.
