Way too many !!!! :-0

Assuming you've got a mortgage and assuming you could sell for market value. How much time could you buy with your watch collection?
I could manage one payment and some change. So either I've got a massive mortgage or a crappy watch collection

Interesting question... I don't have a mortgage anymore but back when I did I guess selling all my watches would cover just the one payment; I have a lot of watches that I value, but few that others would.
I reckon I could possibly pay for about a years worth.
Got 2 mortgages and you shouldn't be putting that thought in my mind lol (probably 4 yrs)
About hundred payments, which is aprox. 50%
Funny statistics!
Not worth thinking about monetary value of my watches. It will be very depressing but let's say a significant part of my spending is on them, after mortgage payment!
A great question.
Only 2 of mine have any real value, only 1 could ever be sold and would cover just 2 months so hardly seems worth it unless I'm in dire financial issues
I know of a chap who has a 30x20cm watch box in his house that is worth more than the 3 bed semi that houses it!

5 months at a push , as i'm overpaying at the moment .
Hope the wife's doesn't see this. 2 YEARS!!!!
I reckon 5 months
ouch just totalled mine at TZ rates as well and looking at 5 1/2 years of mortgage freedom. Mainly because we are SVR now and not some crazy fixed term.
I could probably pay off half my mortgage if I sold my watches.

You want to try living in inner Manchester mate. I don't have a mortgage but I am still in negative equity.
Not trying to sound boastful at all in any way here but if I sold all my watches then I'd be lucky enough to be able to clear my mortgage - I don't have a huge monetary value collection of watches, it's just a combination of having a reduced mortgage and my watches would just happen to cover it.
It does give me food for thought from time to time, especially when business is very slow........
Edit - my location helps mind, as my house is currently worth about 67p.

dont have much in the way of valuable watches but a biggish mortgage I am trying to get down, so probably be able to cover 2 months
down to 8 watches and nothing of any real value.
just about one payment, possibly enough for chips and a pint afterwards. it isn't even a big mortgage.
thinking about it i spend more on holidays every year than watches. about to start shooting again so that's the watch fund gone for a while too.
looks like i should hand my wis badge back.
I'm the same, not many. Maybe 3 at a push...
Assuming best prices, the answer is about 15 payments. Luckily I'm at the stage where the mortgage, a simple repayment, is more about repaying the capital and not the interest. Indeed one of my new year resolutions is not to buy any watches and instead bung a lump sum on the mortgage. Of course I'll also have lost 8 stone by the end of 2013 and forgotten what booze tastes like.

Due to me overpaying my mortgage it's now only £49 a month, so quite a few
About 16 months, gulp.
Would make any if the wife finds out ah
Sold of a load of watches at the beginning of the year with the intention of paying off my mortgage. I've now got enough stashed away in a savings account to do this but I may well be moving this year and was advised to keep hold of it until I know for sure.
Cheers,
Gary
I don't have a mortgage but could probably buy a small house in India with the proceeds of my two watches should I sell them
This is about half of my collection, the other half is all cheapo Qtz or broken mechanicals only good for spares so it's anyones guess!!!

2 and a 1/2 years...shhhh!
I do not want to think about this question or to work it out!

2 years! Big mortgage, small collection!
No mortgage to repay, which is just as well as my collection of one good watch would only pay a single instalment. Then I wouldn't know what time it was...
It would pay off 8 months:eek:
It has taken some considerable learning about watches and also a great deal of time and effort to arrive at my current collection of 7 watches (in my signature) which would only cover one mortgage payment.
So thank you as this thread has very helpfully justified me having them all. I'm off to the fridge for a couple of beers - cheers .
10 watches, ten months of payments....
I'm on a stupidly good rate on intrest only so almost 10 years.
Someone said it before, an interesting question.
I'm lucky i suppose to be mortgage free, so don't have that aspect to worry about now. Pensions on the other hand are a totally different ball game now and not at all enthralling to think about
Don't have a mortgage any more, but I guess the current collection would have covered quite a few years of repayments of the one I used to have. In my defence, I was fairly well behaved until the mortgage was cleared!
Mortgage free now (thank my lucky stars and a lot of hard work).
Having no mortgage is probably why I spend too much on watches. Oh well.
Hmm....8-9 months. That's depressing.

Roughly four years. Which is a little obscene when I think about it.
About 7 months. Makes me feel better compared to those saying more than 2 years!!
Just under 3 years I reckon, but given there's just under 25 years left on the mortgage I'm in no rush to sell any. Could probably manage another couple of years worth of payments in guitars too.
I consider these to be a rainy day type buffer if redundancy or other disaster should strike...
Full payment! Another way to define a WIS...... It is mad, isn't it?
