Thread: PVD ?!

    PVD ?!

    Hi,

I am considering PDV for my Breitling Montbrillliant Datora. I don't really wear this much I think for the most part it just a bit too shiny for me these days.

The black look would sort this out, and the face is black so it should work well as a casual watch once done.

Does anyone know the rough cost for something like this for bracelet and case? Also what is the finished product like? I presume it shouldn't scratch off too easily?

Interested to hear anyone's view on this and if anyone has gone through the process..some images would also be great.

    Cheers all.
    Joe

    Hi Joe

Cost wise youd be looking at around £950.00

I think it would look great, maybe sandblasted rather than polished

Recently had my PAM done (DLC nor PVD) and love it

That certainly isn't a cheap option, but looks very good on your watch. Where did you go to get it DLCd?

Thanks Marc, yes really like the sandblasted look much nicer.

do you have to disassemble the watch for them and just give them the case and parts etc or do they take care of that.?

    Cheers

That would be a terrible combination. It will end up looking like a lookalike, if you see what I mean - the sort of thing often knocked out by Rotary or Accurist. The Montbrillant is a specific, very retro, vintage-style watch from a certain era, and if it's the wrong look for you, sell it and get something less shiny in the first place. Like asking if your Jaguar E-type would look better in an urban matt-black wrap.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

Is there anywhere in Europe that does DLC and doesn't charge the earth?
Wouldn't mind having a watch done but can't seem to find anyone and DLC or PVD are to short for the search function!
