I've been thinking about a Tuna for a while now - this thread has helped convince me! If I can find a SBBN017 at the right price I'll definitely pick one up.
Nice watch!
I purchased my first Tuna a few weeks back; A vintage 7549-7010 from '78. Loving it so far both on a NATO (which I usually hate with a passion) and also on a new Super Oyster from Yobokies with MM300 clasp.
Love the white faced version, makes a change from the normal black! :)
The Tuna is one of the watches I would never get rid off, just love it!. And after a while of not using other watches on the rotation whenever i go back to it is like wearing it for the first time again, I can't stop staring at it

One of the best seiko ever!! I own sbbn007 and sbbn015, really happy with I can not think selling one even if owning 2 is kind of luxury...
One of my favourite Seiko dive-watches, it's had more time on my wrist (both above and below the water) than my MM600.

I've resisted even looking at this page for nearly 12 months as I do not need another hole in my pocket, and I drop on this......
Cheers TT, alliteration = Paul Pretty Pissed (off, now)
I keep resisting as I am trying to build the PAM359 chest and threads of this ilk do not help.
Trust all is well TT and a good summer had, your planners pissed on my party but we are back in last week on Zoots.
Amazing pic Tony.

Emperor VS Blue Ocean:
As you can see there is a big difference in size.....

SBBN021 Blue Ocean Lume photo
Wow that's cool cannop!
Here is my SBBN023
Great design, great examples shown in this thread. I always seem to come back for one from time to time.
Often thought about selling my Darth, but never went though with it.Felt like cheating.
This SBBN015 arrived yesterday,
This one makes it three Tunas for me (also Dime MD limited edition and the SBBN023 "Golgo 13") and I have a feeling it's not my last, these are addictive.
Loving the pics - what are ballpark figs for average looking tunas these days? (realistic not what people would like to get for them).
Nothing flakey about those Tunaas usual camera shots are cool
These have begun to appear on my radar recently... They all look similar to my eyes so I need guidance...
Can the more vintage pieces be serviced long term? Can they be sealed well enough to be used as sports watches these days?
Or better to go newer..?
It all depends on what you want. Auto (36k bph vs. 28k) or quartz, steel or ceramic/titanium. Depending on the combination, you may be limited to newer models or vintage.
In the photo above, sbbn007 ss quartz/ sbdx011 titanium auto / sbbn00e ceramic/titanium.
And here is a timeline for Seiko dive watch development - note the hi beat 6159 600m auto tuna and first 1000m quartz tuna.
I have just bought another this week.
Missed mine too much.
Some lovely Tuna's in this thread!!
To those that have owned both the 7549-7010 and the SBBN015 - which did you prefer and why?
I was set on a 7549 as I love vintage Seiko's but I can't find any for sale at the mo, so considering the newer and more expensive sbbn015 as well. I was offered a very nice, original 7549-7010 the other day, but as nice as it was, the sellet wanted too much for it :(
That is quite stunning, as are Tony's - his photos could make any watch look fabulous. I really, really can't abide a day window, but I think I could tolerate it on this quirky thing. Certainly one to try to see in the flesh, especially to see whether I would prefer it over the Sumo which is of course another superb Seiko diver.
Arrived today (along with another piece I have always pined after).
SBBN017.
Pics not Tonyspec, but I don't care....
Greg. :)
Yeah, I recognise that dial and variant so well, I should have sat on my bad boy as well! The one I had also had a blue anti glare sapphire installed.... ahhhhh.... what a mug.
I've just looked back on my posts Tony, and just realised you sold me my lumpy to go on it!!!
Amazing how many little deals we do, and how much water passes under the bridge on here.
BTW, you don't have another going spare do you???? :) *nothing ventured, nothing gained* LOL
No mate.. I know you don't have the Tuna... was hankering after a spare lumpy. ;)
Odd how watches that aren't deemed to be in the 'super-stratosphere' (in the opinion of many) of watch collecting aren't always the ones which we regret losing the most.
That's the beauty of the hobby.
(I'll add my flipping of two... yes TWO B and M SXXL Ti Capelands to that list. What a d***head!)
Funny old game.
